The peach trees are beautiful with loads of blooms. So frost will ruin chances of fruit this year. Trees are too tall to cover. We have one peach tree for zone 4, and it doesn't have blooms/buds, so at least we may get something from that one.
Hope you are doing well. Have a great weekend. Prayers up for all. God Bless.
It is 18F and six inches of snow right now. About time for indoor starts though.
Pinging the list.
It was 64 here in paradise with a lite rain all day...
Hubby has his starts ready to transplant - he started too early. It’s not nice to rush Mother Nature. LOL
One of my favorite types of weather. Warm, but a good excuse to relax instead of working outdoors. LOL
You got the garlic planted yet?
I’ll be digging garlic in 2 months or less...
We’re going to have to raise frozen veggies this year. 22F here tonight.
Here.
LOL. That’s a good one.
The lawn has been mowed, the camellias are starting to drop their blooms, 2 tulips have opened with 3 more on the way. The fruit tree blossoms have started to open, and the roses are stretching their limbs to the sun.
I found some bulbs on my desk, so even though I have NO idea what they are, I put them in the front flowerbed with the camellias and poppies right along the sidewalk. I still haven’t seeded the hollyhocks yet. Maybe next week...
Didn’t have to do jury duty, so that’s a relief.
We have a windstorm coming in, so today was spent battening down. Loaded the firewood from the neighbour’s tree into the back of the truck for splitting, anchored the tarp over the Airstream, etc.
The seedlings in the garden room are doing very well, but I still need to get the sink hooked up (bad, lazy Don).
Nothing else to share this week, all the best to all my fellow gardening FRiends, and may G_d bless and protect us all
I have 58 tomato plants ready to go in the ground along with 27 peppers. sitting on my kitchen table cause the cold frame is too COLD. Peas are up and probably will freeze tonight.
Have you any kerosene heaters? I have heard of those being used near fruit trees in similar situations.
Our area is still seeing snow, wind, cold temps. Rather a late start to spring. I did get to chit-chat with Lady Groundhog who lives under my she-shed. So, spring can’t be TOO far off now.
Any advice on creating a raised garden bed?
Howdy.
HI!
Do you remember the variety of peach that’s hardy to zone 4?
I never get called for Jury duty anymore. Was never picked when I showed up, so I discussed with the county clerk. I haven’t been called for 25 years. Hubby gets called every 3 or 4 years.
No, but I got it from Stark Brothers headquartered in MO. I think they have on line site. I don’t have a current catalog in my stack, or I would look to see.
I’ll go see if I can find one for zone 4.
If I find one maybe you’d remember if it was yours if I posted a link?
