“A 5 would only be half as bad as a 10.”
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought the difference in magnitude was a factor of 10 between each full increment of the scale.

Call me when Cali falls into the Pacific.

Not half. 5 orders of magnitude. 10^5 vs. 10^10. It’s a logarithmic scale because the numbers are so huge its the only way to get your brain around it.

Sauces Bald Eagles Go back to the 12:27 mark. You can see the eagle dad reacting to what must have been small tremors before the big BAM at 12:27:55. They got a good jolt.

The zipper is between FR and the ocean. So, FR would still be here, even as LA and SF slides off for Alaska

True, but having a small one to talk about breaks up the monotony of day after day of perfect weather.

I happen to be along the ‘ring of fire’ as well, so I’m always mildly worried about the coming ‘big one’. The last one I felt was a 7.0. That said, the loss of the west coast might actually benefit America as a whole, even if I can’t share in it.
To: Slyfox
Not much. I don’t feel any quake understanding a 5.
It was on the Santa Rosa Island, a part of the Channel Islands in So Cal. Right off Ventura.
