It wasn’t in LA, it was about 30 miles off the coast.

Definitely felt it, but nothing fell/broke/cracked from my vantage...it depends on where the epicenter is.
To: GoldenState_Rose
The epicenter was about 45 or so miles off the coast, southwest of the channel Islands.
No where near LA.

What level of damage is a 5? It was so strong, it woke up 3 bums sleeping on the sidewalk.

I’m over in Whittier Slow side to side jello motion for about 20(?) seconds.
To: GoldenState_Rose
Not big enough for the state to fall off into the ocean. Bet most people didn’t even feel it.

Careful there - a 6 would be 10 (ten) times more powerful as a 5.
The Richter scale is logarithmic, which is exponential.

A 5.0 here would have people hurling their children into volcanoes to appease the gods.

Most native Angelinos would barely notice a 5.

I did not feel a thing here in Cypress.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)
To: MplsSteve
Actually, I think it’s a logarithmic scale so a 5 is no where near half of a 10. If I remember right, a 6 is 10 times more powerful than a 5, and a 7 is 10 times more powerful than a 6...
