Why Humans Are Obsessed with Cats - We Love Cats and Kittens

In this eye opening and informative video we see how felines have taken over not only the Internet, but our homes, and of course, our lives. It points out that it is us that are obsessed with cats and not the other way round. This is a must see for any cat lover as it explains a lot about our relationship with cats and how that relationship has evolved.

Cats are the cleanest animals you can possibly have as pets. They are one of the few (if not the only animal) that does not have an objectionable odor- even when wet. In fact many of them have a sweet smell. Several of our do.

Keep the box clean and they will NOT mess the house. If they take to urinating outside the box, take them to the vet. They will do this when they are sick.

I must confess to becoming a cat fool in late middle age. My kid adopted one from a shelter, then we fostered some kittens from the same shelter. Lost one - they wouldn’t take me seriously when I said he was in trouble, and KDS got him. We raised the others then couldn’t give them back. One of them has decided I am her human. She bit me today for lavishing too much attention on her sister. The one who bit me has warg DNA, I am quite sure. She’s awesome like that.

Mine gets mad at me...

Except that they soil your house with pee and poop. I can always tell someone owns a cat immediately when I walk into their house. It smells like cat pee and poop. The owners have become accustomed to it and don't smell the stench.

Your reply; soon as you open the door, you can tell cat owners by the box stench

THAT'S NOT TRUE. IF YOU SMELL A 'STENCH' IT IS BECAUSE THE CAT OWNER IS TOO LAZY TO KEEP THE BOX CLEAN. THERE ARE DEODORIZING LITTER ON THE MARKET, AND A BOX MUST BE SCOOPED DAILY. AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH, WASH THE BOX THROUGHLY WITH SOAP AND FINISH UP WITH CLOROX. RINSE THROUGHLY.

IF A CAT TAKES TO GOING OUTSIDE THE BOX, IT IS SICK. TAKE IT TO THE VET. THEY WILL ALSO 'HIDE' WHEN SICK.

WE HAVE FOUR INSIDERS, INCLUDING A BEAUTIFUL SILVER CHINCILLA PERSIAN AND A BENGAL. NOT A SINGLE PERSON WHO HAS EVER ENTERED OUR HOME HAS MENTIONED AN ODOR. THIS INCLUDES RELATIVES WHO WOULD BE HONEST- SOME WHO DISLIKE CATS. (SEE OUR COLLECTION ON MY BIO PAGE)

Have to disagree. Animals have emotions & bond to humans as much as we do to them. It isn’t all about food, either. I’ve seen dozens of videos on YouTube & other places showing animals racing to their favorite human - geese, cows, burros, etc. Animals you would NOT expect to get excited about a particular person.

Most farm animals don’t get that personal interaction, but when they do, they are every bit as loving as dogs & cats. A friend has chickens & they come up to her & try to fly into her arms. They WANT some personal attention. Humans should not be so dismissive of their intelligence or emotional capacity.

They do have their own fragrance but the males seem to like it on the females.

All this scooping and washing the box seems like too much trouble, but is it when you consider walking a dog numerous times in sub-zero and the struggle to give it a bath?

Cats don't need walking, and you can leave them alone and go away for several days and they're fine. They don't need bathing. They bathe themselves.

Don't get me wrong. I dearly love dogs. We have a wonderful Yorkie and a Lab. It just irks me that every time someone mentions a cat in a post, all the 'cat haters; (who have probably never really come to know a cat), start with the nasty remarks.

They're wonderful, loving, amusing, intelligent animals.

Bye bye. Have a nice evening

And by the way, cats are now the most popular pet in the U.S BY FAR. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Allergic to cats. They are OK . Some of them are pretty sweet. I can pet them for a minute, then go wash my hands.
Can't stay in someone’s house who has cats for long before my eyes and nose start itching. I sure don't care for the psycho cats that suddenly lash out for no apparent reason.

But dogs ...ah, I love dogs...and especially older, mellow dogs.

Cats are cheaper to feed. 2 or 3 cats for the price of 1 dog.

Cats are the Hitler of the animal kingdom. The only thing that stops them from world domination is the lack of opposable thumbs.

AND A BOX MUST BE SCOOPED DAILY.

Dogs pee and poop outside and don't require us to clean up their fecal matter.

Seriously, you enjoy cleaning up after your filthy beast?

Your cat just makes messes in a box that stinks the house.

I don't have a cat. But when I did, I provided a litterbox with a privacy top and carbon filter and good-quality clumping litter, and cleaned it daily. We also kept the cat latrine in the laundry room. Lift the clumps every day or two with a scoop and put them in the plastic 5-gallon paint container and seal the lid. Put the contents out with the trash on trash day. My house never had a cat odor.

It took less time to maintain than the frequent wipe-downs of the dual sinktop, shower and mirror in the master bathroom and the kids' bathroom.
