Google Celebrates Dr. Maya Angelou With A Stunning Doodle
Refinery29 ^ | April 4, 2018 | Madeline Buxton

Google gathered a star-studded cast of celebrities, including Alicia Keys, Laverne Cox, and Oprah Winfrey, to help celebrate Dr. Maya Angelou.

Today's Doodle honoring the poet, civil rights activist, and author on what would have been her 90th birthday is nothing short of a masterpiece. When you click the homepage illustration, you'll hear the words of Angelou's empowering poem "Still I Rise" read aloud as drawings illustrating each line fill the screen. The recorded reading from Angelou is interspersed with sections read by Keys, Cox, Winfrey, America Ferrera, Martina McBride, and Angelou's son, Guy Johnson.

“first last”, above, should be “first lady”.
My fingers aren’t quite synched to my brain today, for some reason. :-)

It's kind of hard to imagine a standard low enough to qualify her execrable drivel as anything but garbage.

Willie said it better, “I woke up still not dead today.”

I saw this yesterday and couldn’t figure out who it was. I’m sure that labels me as insensitive, out of touch, racist and in need of left wing “therapy” to get my head right.

If this woman was a “poet”, I’m a rocket scientist.

Black poet:

Cill my landlord by Eddie Murphy.

Watch dog bark on a hot summer night,

kill my landlord, kill my landlord,

watch dog bark, though he bite,

kill my landlord, kill my landlord,

slip in his window, break his neck,

then his house I start to wreck,

got no reason, what the heck!

kill my landlord, kill my landlord,

C-I-L-L my landlord.

I have always thought that Michael Savage missed his calling by not coming out with an album of him reading Maya Angelou poetry

The following video is pretty much what you are describing (you have to watch to the end to get to the part where you will be laughing hard enough to bring tears to your eyes).

Okay, I do feel a little guilty that apparently she died four years ago and I didn't notice. I remember reading I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, and feeling that it was a good book.

Yep. She is one of the names libs throw around to show how smart they are. Virtue signaling at its best.

My readings included dead black guys (O. Henry, Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, etc.) who actually had talent as well as those which you mentioned.

That's another problem with the Maya Angelous of this world-- they not only displace the classics, but they displace black writers who actually grew up in slavery or the period shortly thereafter when hurt feelings weren't deemed equivalent to actual discrimination.

When you have a serious ailment that will probably require surgery, never go to a “doctor” who writes poems.

So that’s what that is. Looked to me like the uppity broad who gave me a ration of feces the last time I visited the Department of Motor Vehicles to renew my registration.

‘Still I Rise’ but nothing for “He is Risen”.

I quit using Google because their doodles and/or lack thereof pi$$ed me off badly. I use Bing which has a beautiful photo every day.

Maya Angelou has to be the quintessential example of promoting race over ability.
