I was flying on the back of one of the Great Eagles of Thorondor over the Shire when I encountered some turbulence.
Although I argued up and down with the magistrate, I couldn't convince him of this fact. Instead he insisted that I had driven over a couple of pedestrians.
I'm hoping my cellmate in the Dungeons of Mordor is not an orc.

Sorry, I’m busy filing a patent on a VR system for a water closet.

I suspect you are correct. With home VCR’s, the first big pre-recorded market was pr0n. And the same is true of the introduction of the CD-ROM drive on home computers. It’s always what’s on the leading edge.
I remember when I was touring the “new ideas” lab for T-Mobile about 9 years ago and they were experimenting with a little pad (with a phone vibrator built in) you could wrap around your arm or sew into an inner clothing skin, and it could be “called” by people that knew your number. It would be like “giving you a virtual nudge”. That is, when they called it, you would feel it vibrate.
So I asked the young chick demonstrating it, “Seriously? So, can you attach it ANYWHERE on your body?” I mean, duh!

Anyone here remember when adults did grown-up things and children played games all the time?

Apple also suggests that future cars could lack windows, instead using interior screens alongside the VR headsets to display virtual surroundings.Aren't these the same dickweeds that self-righteously demand we spend billions of dollars to preserve and protect every remaining corner of "nature" in the world? Why is so important to preserve it if they don't even want to look at it, never mind actually go out in it?
Why do they care if the snail darter becomes extinct? Ytey wouldn't recognize one if they tripped over it while jogging with their headphones and VR glasses on.
