CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. A Chattanooga woman says she was forced to move to the back of an airplane because of her weight.
Amber Manjee is just one of several people across the country sharing her bad experience on an airline publicly.
Ever since she's been back home, Amber Manjee's had the incident on her mind.
"I was in tears," she said. "The people who sat in front of me turned around and said, 'well you should lose weight.'"
Manjee says she asked for a seat belt extender to be more comfortable when she sat down, even though she can do without one. It's part of her routine when she's traveling for business, along with picking an emergency exit row seat.
But, next thing she knew the Delta flight attendant came to tell her she had to move this time.
Manjee explained, "She's saying loud for everybody to hear 'You're overweight. You have to have an extender. You have to move,'"
Manjee says she hasn't felt the way she did in that moment since she was in high school.(snip)
Manjee emailed the company from the back seat of the plane she was reassigned to. By the time the plane landed she had a response. Delta apoligized for the way she was treated and offered her a $500 voucher.
"Oh, I've not accepted it," she said.
Instead, she wants Delta to promise employees will receive more sensitivity training, so that what happened to her, doesn't happen to anyone else.(snip)
Delta's company policy states that seat belt extenders cannot be used in the exit row due to the likelihood that the dangling strap may become a hazard for passengers attempting to exit the aircraft in the event of an emergency.

Any pilot will tell you, weight and balance is critical.
Maybe. But if heavy cargo was mainly up front, it would have made sense to move her rearward. But we don't know, do we?
Speculation is much cheaper than facts.
Wait. Delta is responsible for what other passengers say?
Besides, if she simply did a belly flop on those people, they'd be grease spots.
If you have to have an extender, you don’t get to sit in an exit row.
So, in this one case you would NOT hit that
The issue was that you do not want a beached whale blocking the emergency exit.
In fact, we have an upcoming date. I'm flying her into Atlanta on Delta.
Damn, but you are not picky
How come your bones jiggle so much?
A few years ago there was a Poirot, mystery set in the ‘30s where they showed passengers being weighed before they boarded the plane. I’ve flown on small commuter planes where they had us shift seats to balance the load, but in her case, I thinks it’s because they didn’t want her to block the exit row.

Gurl, we's gots ta get togetha ta file uh class action on dis here thin, don't make me come ova there, Delta...
Ass tester. Sounds good. Invent that.
What do you do? I make ass testers. I distribute ass testers. Im the guy who invented the ass tester.
Valuable service to people like me just minding my business coming back to LaGuardia after a two day Irish funeral feeling bad with a whining, chea-perfume-drenched fat woman squishing me into the window of a Boeing 737
She should have failed the ass test at check in instead of making me tell her and her husband(?) to get up I have to move risking having them call me a racist
Delta could not fit her in the overhead compartment.
“I was on a 17 seat turboprop. We had to shift seats for load balancing.”
I was on a plane like that once, flying into London from the Midlands. Plane was not anywhere near full. One guy’s carry on luggage was a six-pack of Black Label, which he offered to share as he’d already had enough.
Needless to say, this was a long time ago.
The only real issue is that she got her feelings hurt and had a camera for the teary eyed opportunity to emote over how bad the world treats her because she is obese.
Depending on the type of plane, particularly commuters, center of gravity becomes critical. Weight distribution is important. The story didn't say type of airplane
its called physics young lady
The "get her a cheeseburger crowd" like them that way.
Heard that her Business was French Fries Taster for a company boycotting the Fox Network.
