I have a friend, well into his 80s now, who had Top Secret etc. clearances in the whole Vietnam era (DARPA etc.).
He has told me frequently that MI knew, in the 1960s, that the USSR was going to collapse due to its communist economic system. Numerous papers were written on the subject, but of course were not made public.
It is said that the CIA failed to predict the fall of the USSR. If so, it is because they were tainted with the same communist theories and hence incapable of correct insight on the Soviet system. Cf: Brennan.
I agree - a person’s mind set impacts how they interpret stuff.
took these analytics too far, too fast, and lost Hillary the election with them.

Maybe the information was closely held in order to continue public use of USSR as an enemy. Ya gotta have a reason for all those appropriations and the 2-minutes of hate.
Agree on the rest. I’d love to equip an honest team of brilliant PhDs with Go-Pros and have them given a month-long intensive at DARPA, which fascinates me. Our enemies likely already have all our research, so let the taxpayers see it for themselves.

So our only hope is that MI is helping the white hats, and utilizing this tech for good.
