I'm feeling like hearing some interesting music that I've never heard before, so I thought I'd start a thread on FReeper's favorite underrated bands. Post several good examples of their music and why you feel they're underrated. Should be fun.
The lead singer became a born again Christian and became lead singer for Petra.
They regrouped with old members. Going to see them this summer
Dread Zeppelin -- They are a reggae band singing classic roack (Mainly Led Zeppelin) with an Elvis impersonator as lead singer.
Infected Mushroom -- mainly instrumental, but very creative.
Agree 100%!
I mean how could anyone have overlooked the greatness of this song?
Towers of London
The video makes me realize, though, how much I missed Terry's drumming after he left.
Hah I remember zebra. Great sound and hardly anyone knows them.
The Band I think is underrated is one no one has heard of, I’m not even going to try mentioning it
Ska! The Specials - “A Message To You Rudy”
The English Beat - “Save It For Later”
Muse - “Dig Down”
Sixpence None The Richer - “There She Goes”
Joe Jackson - “Steppin’ Out”
The Civil Wars - “Billie Jean”
Graham Parker and The Rumor - “Hey Lord Don’t Ask Me Questions”
Elvis Costello and The Attractions - “Pump It Up”
You probably know that Pete Townshend covered that song. At the time, David Gilmour was in his band, and they were trying to figure out the tuning to use, and they couldn't figure it out. So, they called up Dave Wakeling, to ask him how he tuned the guitar for the song....LOL, imagine getting that call, from Gilmour and Townshend.
A full-blown art band, very cool. I don’t even know what the name of this one is, those characters look Thai but the video is transfixing.
Wet Willie , with Jimmy Hall on vocals. “Weekend” , Dixie Rock”, “Keep On Smilin’ “.
This was the song that really made me get into XTC, it’s funny because it’s a fairly atypical song from them, but I just thought it was so brilliantly written, and nice and jazzy.

Psychedelic era folk is always easy to listen to and never, ever boring, lol.
The Romantics—What I Like About You; She’s Got Everything; Secrets That You Keep (Talkin In Your Sleep); Tell It to Carrie...
Great post-punk, guitar band of the mid-80’s!
Cool.
Umm - interesting.
The Jayhawks - “Blue”
Whiskeytown - “Jacksonville Skyline”
Randy Rogers Band - “In My Arms Instead”
Not a band, but Maria McKees If Love is a Red Dress (Hang me in Rags) is vastly underrated.

And Keith Richards doesnt get enough credit for his harmony singing on Wild Horses.
Black Oak Arkansas.
The Electric Prunes - “I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night” with period video.
