Made a sharp USN enlisted thirteen button trousers..
To all that were ‘wondering’, the reason for the 13 buttons was to hold the trousers up and keep the ‘valuables’ under wrap.
The ‘trick’ was to have them wear down enough to be able to ‘tug’ on one corner and they would ‘open’ quickly.
Of course, for a reasonable price, Hong Kong Tailors were known to put a zipper and still keep the 13 button, bell bottom look.

I much prefer bell bottoms to leggings/jeggings.I really don’t like the ankle length pants either - they only look good on tall women..
I never did succumb to the leggings/tunic top trend. Doesn’t flatter “mature” women at all.
