Analyst at Bletchley Park

Born: November 11, 1920;

Died: September 24, 2017

CAROLINE Chojecki, who has died aged 96, was a Second World War intelligence analyst who played a key role at the Bletchley Park codebreaking centre, reorganising its database and undertaking research into the possible range of Germany’s newest submarines. Another unsung hero of W.W. II died. She was one of the code breakers that worked at Bletchley Park. An astonishing breed of people that are fast leaving, but leave behind a legacy of sacrifice and patriotism during a dark time in world history. God Speed and many thanks for your invaluable work.

I have read account of those that worked there. There were many, a lot women by the way, they did extraordinary work. For the most part they were unsung and unknown.

Well the Official Secrets Act had pretty severe penalties for “being sung and known”. I’ve read that couples who met and married at Bletchley didn’t even tell each other what they worked on even years after the war ended.

A book I read many years ago said the war wasn’t won on the beaches of Normandy, the deserts of North Africa, the mountains of Italy or the steppes of the Soviet Union.
It was actually won at Bletchley Park by people who no one knew about. The Real Silent Service.
