Oh how I wish Nixon had stayed home and we had never established trade relations with China. They have just about all the technology they need thanks to several recent POTUS and underlings. We need to get our own steel mills tooled back up and producing and move some of our Atlantic assets out of NORVA as far as home porting. In short we've done everything we can to assist China's military except give them the TOMCAT plans and it's goodies.

Jeff, I can’t thank you enough for the information you have provided to us over the years on this important subject.

When I tell people why I love Free Republic, the main point is that by myself, I am often not knowledgeable to great degrees on a variety of subjects (though navies of the world is something I try to keep up with) but the collective set of knowledge, and people who can both share knowledge and sharpen it by constructive (or not so constructive sometimes) criticism keeps our information stream good.

You need info on the Energy sector, Archeology, Religion, Politics, Cooking, Construction, Finance, Philosophy? We have Freepers who are knowledgeable in all those things.

But in all those people, when it comes to the Navies of the world in general, and the US Navy in particular, I have always (as many of us do) regard you as our resident expert.
