The snapping turtle who was fed a puppy in front of students at an Idaho junior high school has been euthanized, according to a representative for the Idaho State Department of Agriculture.
The snapping turtle was euthanized humanely a statement from the ISDA representative said.

They should have euthanized the teacher who fed the puppy to the turtle, by feeding him to some giant turtle. See how he would like that.

That teacher could have fed 4-5 snappers.
It’s not like you domesticate a snapping turtle. Should have dumped him in a pond.
Right, the turtle was innocent.
How twisted our society has become.
Now I’m traumatized.
It seems it was euthanized because it’s an invasive species, owned illegally, not because it was fed the puppy.
Actually, if they had shelled the turtle
and made soup of it, that would have taught
the kids a real lesson.
Chicken doesn’t come from the STORE!
If the guy had fed the turtle a mouse/rat, no one would have batted an eye.
And people actually asked us why we home schooled.
I hope they euthanized the turtle in front of the class.
...”Circle of Life” and all that stuff.
Maybe they should have carried it over into home economics and come up with a nice turtle soup dish.
“...They should have euthanized the teacher...”
Actually, this is not a bad idea. Lib profs and teachers serve absolutely no useful purpose on the face of the planet. They’re just taking up space and breathing air that the rest of us need to survive. And on top of that, even turtles need to eat.
I mean, really, it would be the “progressive” thing to do. /S
Snapping turtles are an invasive species in Idaho?
I did not know that. I thought they were indigenous to every area of the continental United States (and most of North America).
“Invasive species”.
Who knew? I wonder how many other states have this law.
Very common here in Minnesota. I know several folks in northern Minnesota that turn them into pretty tasty soups.
I’m in perfect agreement, the teacher should have been fed to the turtle. Live. Starting with limbs that have a tourniquet above each bite to prevent bleeding to death. When the turtle is full, patch him up until the next feeding.
Chicken comes from puppy fed turtles?
I’m SO confused...
Probably not. People who own pet snakes feed rats and mice to them all the time.
But we, as humans, have recognized degrees of intelligence - degrees of ‘LIFE’ - in animals. We seem to reflexively understand that dogs and horses, for example, should be treated differently, be given a higher level of respect, than rodents, or, say, fish.
I agree with that. Civilization across the world has been largely built on the backs of horses and dogs, and we have valued them precisely because of the superiority to other animals that their intelligence and apparent emotional capacities suggest. Otherwise, they would have been as much use to us as rats; and as much honored.
(We may change our minds on this, as we evolve...a lot of people think that pigeons, for example, are just flying rats; and my two pet ones have convinced me that they are not ;-)
I don’t know the real truth of this story; but if a ‘teacher’ actually did this, there’s something really wrong with him/her with regard to common sense.
Agree fully!
Or to a crocodile. He is a sick individual. Did you see the story about the United Airlines flight attendant who put a 10 month old French bulldog puppy in the overhead where it died. The family that owned it was severely traumatized. Cruelty to animals really burns me up.
