I wonder if the AP ever considered that his "big ideas" may not be provable? Hawkins certainly deserves credit for living an extraordinary life with a terrible disease. That doesn't make him infallible. He had a number of goofy ideas, too. One was "we have only a hundred years to leave earth, or we will face extinction".

Sadly, Hawking's basic theory was flawed. Had he postulated that Black Holes were superior in all ways to White Holes, proof acceptable to the Nobel Committee would have been available within minutes.

A further corollary that White Holes were the radiating source of all Evil in the Universe would have garnered an immediate second award.

The fault is Hawking's as he obviously didn't know how the Universe works.
