Ashtabula twin brothers are turning heads
STAR BEACON ^ | Feb 28, 2018 | Shelley Terry

ASHTABULA — Grandmother Jenyne Wallace says her twin grandsons — one black, the other white — look different because of genetics.

“We have light and dark people in my family,” she said.

The twins’ mother, Danyelle Wallace, 23, of Ashtabula, said they noticed the boys’ different complexions right away.

“On the day they were born, when we took their hats off for the first time,” Danyelle said. “The nurses pointed out Jeremiah’s curly blondish hair and Elijah’s curl dark hair.”

The twins have gotten even more attention since Fox 8 shared their story last week.

The six-month-old boys are fraternal twins, which means each came from a separate fertilized egg. Another factor in their appearance could be that they were born to a black mother and a biracial father, Danyelle said.

Danyelle and her boyfriend, Trey Turner, named the babies Jeremiah and Elijah after God’s prophets. She praised Turner’s baby skills and commitment to his fatherly duties, especially the first couple of months.

“It was rough in the beginning from lack of sleep and constant diapering,” Danyelle said. “Now it’s fun.”

Turner said he loves to play with the twins and care for them.

“I am glad we had two boys,” he said.

Jeremiah and Elijah are happy, fun babies, Danyelle said.

“They love their toys, story books and cuddles,” she said.

Just like their complexions, the boys have their personality differences.

Jeremiah likes to sit, observe his surroundings and play with his toys.

Elijah likes to roll around to his destinations.

“We love having twins and the twins love having each other,” Wallace said.

Or their mama slept with a black guy and a white guy. What’s their mama’s occupation?

A neighbor had a cleaning lady who was Korean married to a white guy. Her son was blond and looked white until he started school and by the time he was in his early teens he looked totally Korean.

I am of Northern European stock. Germany, France, Poland. So is my wife. My grandson is half us, half African American/Puerto Rican.

He has red hair, blue eyes, and is so pale, he looks Irish. He is, in fact, the whitest African American in America. The opportunities are endless....

The boys are really not all that different looking. One’s slightly lighter than the other and they are obvious brothers. The headline’s playing it up like a blond haired blue eyed white brother and a dark curly haired black brother. No, they resemble fairly closely.

Fraternal twins. Not identical twins. I’m not sure what the big deal is. Fraternal twins by definition are as different looking as any two brothers might be.

So the lighter one is well behaved and plays with his toys, and the darker one keeps moving around and causing problems.

I wonder what could cause the difference in personalities.

The lighter child looks more African American, the darker child looks more Hispanic.

Sometimes, new parents get a little carried away with how ‘unique and remarkable’ their infants are. This is often a good thing, encouraging the parents to cherish and tolerate their children a little bit more. Other times, this can become a story of a Stage Mother pushing the child into the limelight just to draw more attention to herself.

Why, thank you.

Yours tells me about you and, sadly, it has changed my opinion. To quote yourself, “All news items need to be considered critically.” Apparently, it is fine for thee but not to me.
