Brought my hand tools up to the rent house this weekend. I’m going to spend the next two days in soil prep then start implementing the ideas you all have given me next weekend.
I had some nice areas enclosed by concrete sidewalks I used for my mint and lemon balm beds when I lived here. Dug up some white yuccas from the “wild area” out back of our new home and I’m going to put those in 2 of those beds. Those yuccas become invasive too but they grow the tall stalk with big white blossoms.
Also have 8 pots chock full of Mexican petunias to bring up next week and some wormwood for ground cover that I dug at home. Have a perfect spot for the bench that TIK suggested and going to put some ornamental grass behind and beside the bench to define and create a suggestion of privacy. Then will grab some bedding annuals to put in front.
Thanks for the ideas y’all :)
I love it when a plan comes together!

Amazingly, they survive up here in Zone 4, too. I love it when they bloom! I sold many of them when I worked for Jung’s, but normally for Rain Garden areas or people that had sandy and dry soil...or who moved up here from the South West and wanted SOMETHING that looked like, ‘Home.’ ;)
Two local businesses use them in their landscaping; they are really something when they bloom here in the late fall!
