"I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say "Hang the sense of it" and just keep yourself occupied.

This goes a long way to explaining why one of the Cable movie networks has recently been showing the POS movie made some years ago with Martin Freeman and Mos Def as Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect. To quote Marvin, the movie was “Dreadful”.
Wish someone would replay the BBC TV version, which was pretty funny and covered all three of the original books. Or, better yet, the original BBC radio series.

Im a Douglas Adams fan but could never visit his grave or such - any grave.I had no idea I'd encounter his grave when we visited Highgate. Complete surprise. Glad to take a pen and leave one.
Didn't realise I had cancer myself at the time. Found that out 2 months later.
I survived.

Thanks for the clarification. It’s an interesting subject.

Several billion trillion tons of superhot exploding hydrogen nuclei rose slowly above the horizon and managed to look small, cold and slightly damp.

The President in particular is very much a figurehead - he wields no real power whatsoever. He is apparently chosen by the government, but the qualities he is required to display are not those of leadership but those of finely judged outrage. For this reason the President is always a controversial choice, always an infuriating but fascinating character. His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it. When I first heard of Donald Trump running for president, this is the exact passage that ran through my head. I'm like "oh great. President Beeblebrox".

Lots of crinkly edges and fiddlybits.I use the term "fiddlybits" in casual conversation every once in a while as a memorial to Mr. Adams.
My younger sister loved "This must be Thursday. Never could get the hang of Thursdays."

His job was to distract from Soros' hand as it disappeared up his butt. It's the one thing he was fairly good at.

Interesting stuff, thanks! I often wondered why Joseph is mentioned in the genealogy when he had no genetic input into Jesus’ birth, so to speak!
To: Mrs. Don-o
Luke has the phrase, “thought to be the father of” Jesus Matthew also mentions mother’s, sometimes.

In my home, my wife's office has a drawer labeled 'fiddlybits'. A much better descriptor than 'odds & ends'.
I mean, if you have 23 odds & ends on a table and one falls off...what did you lose? An odd or an end?
Not too off topic but...I always thought Princess Bride was the most quotable movie ever. Now I must change that and say that HHGTG is by far more quotable.
