A Wrinkle in Time Sells the Cult of Oprah
National Review ^ | March 9, 2018 | Armond White

What are you?” a stupefied child asks the apparition standing overhead in A Wrinkle in Time. And Oprah Winfrey answers back, “I am a part of the universe!” Oprah’s fame has cost her the transparency to be a believable actress (which she so movingly was in Jonathan Demme’s Beloved), yet she achieves godhead in A Wrinkle in Time, a Disney film devoted to pagan self- worship. It is the second phase of Disney’s black-enslavement program this year (following Black Panther), and black female Ava DuVernay joins Oprah as director of this big-screen secular parable.

The review is as long, boring and choppy as the movie.

Why do so many of these militant black women demand we recognize all forms of black culture, particularly as it applies to the way they dress and look...yet they appropriate the hair of a northern European woman?

I care not what they decide to "look" like, but I wish they'd stop the hypocrisy of their silly bullshit.

The last time I was in Africa, I saw a "hip" African woman trying to catch a man while caked in red clay and dusted with ashes from a fire.

Now that's an original african women.

And her go-to night out wear was an uncured cow-hide that barely covered her ample Oprah butt, but she had at least 6 suitors that thought she was worth a few cows.

I think the oven rack was off the table, since they don't have ovens, other than the one's they use to fire their red clay pots and what have you.

C'mon sweetie...let's get back to basics!

Ooooh! Now, Cardinal -- the rack!

All the reviews so far are saying it’s effectively “A Wrinkle in Ghostbusters 3”. . .

One of the great problems with writing a book or making a movie about an all-wise being is that at some point the being must say or do something to show he/she/it is breathtakingly wise. Tough to do when the writer is almost always a creature of below average intelligence and extremely limited experience.

When you combine it with casting ‘Oprah in a dish rack’ as the all wise being, then you have an added question: If she is so great, why does she look like such a dork?

Not an oven rack, not a sink rack. An RPG screen.

“A Wrinkle in Time” written by Madeline l’Engle has been on the banned books list in the USA. Having read this in Junior HS, Oprah and the director has misappropriated the heck out of this storyline to include Oprah. This is not the first movie for the Wrinkle in Time book either proving yet again Hollywood has no original ideas.

Disney has a history of making hash of classic stories, going back to when they butchered Felix Salten's Bambi: A Life in the Woods.

I have never read the story and will take your word that Disney "butchered" it. But Disney's Bambi is an undeniably classic film.

I guess this proves that I am not a racist.

I went to Black Panther based on the reviews. It was a decent movie overall. It had some fun parts.

I did not go to it because I am sucking up to the black cast in some sort of white guilt.

Likewise, I shall not be going to this mess—not because Oprah is black. I shall not be going to this because it sucks.

So, skin color doesn’t come into my decisions at all.

She also surgeried her way out of her African nose.
