President Trump will look out for American workers.

If the GOP brass can’t or won’t see it, that’s their problem.

Trump wants to expand the GOP and he’ll drag it over the finish line whether it likes it or not.

steep tariffs on imports from leading trading partners.

The US has NO TRADING PARTNERS, Partners generally have an equal split, the USA has been getting the Short end of the stick in every Trade Deal for the last 40 years. Our Elected Officials have been selling out the American Citizen for a long time and as you see from their reaction, they have No Intention of doing what is right for America, only their corporate daddy supporters.

It will be sad to see so many conservatives now argue how great it is to slap tariffs on goods to benefit a few well-connected large corporations at the expense of millions of small consuming american companies and all of their millions of workers.

I remember when conservatives would look at actual facts, and draw conclusions based on those facts.

Trump said he would put up tariffs on the day he announced his candidacy.

This is fair trade.

Every media personality (few can be called journalists) and politician should force themselves to read “The Art of the Deal” before saying a single additional word about Trump’s actions. Or at least have an aide read the Cliff’s Notes to them.

Just a couple examples:
* “conservatives” freaked out about his DACA offer (1.8 million). Nothing happened.

* 2nd amendment advocates (and due process advocates) went ape about his listening to liberal ideas on guns and even echoing what they said (I’ve been to marriage counseling and taught to do the same thing). Nothing will happen.

I’d bet he was not trying to get liberal ideas into law (or conservative ideas), but trying to make a deal that Rs and Ds could agree on. “The Art of the Deal” is key when he doesn’t have a personal stake, and his personal stake seems to be MAGA and nothing more or less.

Pretty much everyone has criticized his 180’s on different issues: Right, left, conservatives, liberal, Harvard grads and idiots (if that’s not redundant).

He tests things. He looks at results and he changes if it’s not what he wants. He has objectives and will go through many failed goals until he finds the goals that satisfy his objectives. Public opinion probably has an influence on the changes in goals/approaches - but shouldn’t elected representatives be influenced by their constituents? If you think he has America’s best interest as an objective, his deal making and tests that fail should be encouraging.

His ability to do a 180 is an asset not a liability. He’s willing to test a “stupid idea”. If tax cuts failed, he’ll be against them tomorrow. If tariffs go bad he’ll stop them. Half the country thinks tax cuts and tariffs are stupid. It’s good to have small, controlled tests of theories rather than academic BS from both sides. We’re getting the tests and seeing results. It’ll take congress to change the taxes if those were a mistake, but Trump can change tariffs daily.

Yeah, I’m glad the New York Times is looking out for me.

I swear, these kind of articles are like porn for leftists.

Newsflash, dummies: Trump is open to talking about issues. He takes alternative opinions into account. Some decisions we’ll like, others not so much. He’s not 100% on everything, and most of us understand that. But he’s over 90%, and that’s a lot more than we’ve gotten from GOPe clones in the past.
