What's this nonsense about Democrat turnout in Texas?
2018-03-07 | Dangus

Drudge and establishment/leftwing news sites have been going crazy with the notion that incredibly high Democrat turnout in Texas means that Texas is going blue.

But election results show that Republicans are absolutely SPANKING Democrats in turnout, getting 50% more votes than the Democrats.

https://www.politico.com/election-results/2018/texas/

And that's with the Democrats having fiesty, expensive primary contents while the Republicans are mostly merely coronating their incumbent governor, Greg Abbot, and senator, Ted Cruz (although both candidates had multiple opponents).

Abbot received 1.4 million votes, compared to Lupe Valdez and Andrew White, who will be headed to a runoff after receiving about half that number... combined!

And after all the worry that Ted Cruz was so vulnerable, he managed 1.3 million votes, compared to the Democrat nominee who received less than half as many.

These are huge increases in Democrat primary votes, so it's worth noting that core Democrats are energized... but turning Texas blue?

Yeah, I acknowledged that Democratic turnout was up strongly, but the point is that it still incredibly lags Republican votes.

D.C. had a mayor’s race that was better than that: Mr. Brown vs. Mr. Vinnie Gray vs. Mr. Vinnie Orange. None of them one: Ms. Bowser did. Apparently certain voters didn’t like Tarrantino movie characters as politicians.

People read Drudge to get their daily briefing on RuPaul.

It wasn’t just the media. There was a possibly organized campaign on FR of folks on board with that agenda. The advocates of the “Texas going blue, look at the turnout” wouldn’t engage or listen to reason.

I doubt they are Russian hackers, but they were shilling for someone.

For a life long Midwesterner, the “Major Noreaster!” looks like “Crap, I need to beat the rush to buy more beer, milk and toilet paper”.

Granted, we have something the coast doesn’t, namely equipment and space to get rid of the snow.

I find it interesting you would have the same take on this that I do with regards to weather.

The breathless, under-the-surface, panic-evoking cadences, and stupid applying of names to even the most innocuous of weather incidences of all weather people now (be it the local news or the Weather Channel...particularly The Weather Channel) is irritating and nauseating to me.

I do make an exception for people who live in areas subject to hurricanes and tornadoes. That is quite different.

I think people who pay attention to this stuff are, well...I have to be nice. They talk to their viewers like mindless, emotionally driven children. It makes me think of the Don Henley (though he is a brain-dead leftist, gets this right) song “Dirty Laundry:

Dirty Laundry
Don Henley
I make my living off the evening news
Just give me something-something I can use
People love it when you lose,
They love dirty laundry
Well, I coulda been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I don’t have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear
Give us dirty laundry

We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blond
Who comes on at five
She can tell you ‘bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
It’s interesting when people die
Give us dirty laundry
Can we film the operation?
Is the head dead yet?
You know, the boys in the newsroom got a running bet
Get the widow on the set!
We need dirty laundry
You don’t really need to find out what’s going on
You don’t really want to know just how far it’s gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry

Dirty little secrets
Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody’s pie
We love to cut you down to size
We love dirty laundry
We can do “The Innuendo”
We can dance and sing
When it’s said and done we haven’t told you a thing
We all know that Kraft is king
Give us dirty laundry!

IOW, we need an OPPOSITION party.

Nope, 2rd parties never go anywhere. Better to recreate the Republican Party, just like the Democrats did.

Of course not. Foolish notion

If conservatives are to have any voice, it will be heard from within the Republican party.

Sorry, but another label w/o meaning.

Really? Where’s the (R)N(C) ‘voice’ *NOW*?? Aside from shilling from the status quo via tariffs.

Damn quiet when it comes to ‘party of small govt’ via the $1T+ deficits, no?

Maybe it was the vocalizations, as they were dragged, kicking-n-screaming, for anything on the Trump agenda?

Sorry, but, IMO, if anyone is listening to the voices from the (R)N(C), they need a hearing test.

The (D) recreated? IMO, no, they merely finally pulled back the curtain on whom they truly were.

Lastly, 40yrs. of back-stabbing and Leftist tilting, why would ANYONE want to trust the label, even *IF* they were to ‘recreate themselves’?

What car company would be STUPID enough to re-release The Pinto, or Edsel, or..??

On WHAT platform? 40+ of ‘smaller govt’ and have YET to see any examples I couldn’t counter w/ a longer list in the opposite direction. They’ve pretty much given up the ghost pointing to the Constitution (unless it’s a CYA job). Just look at the recent ‘gun control’ debate; 2nd A.?? Prob. count on one hand whose lips that may have passed through.

Well you are certainly entitled to your opinion, however, they were not a bunch of communists at one point in time. Perhaps you are just too young to remember when they weren’t.

Most likely too young or I learned faster than it seems many here. Continuing under the banner of those that have CONSTANTLY pulled the rug from under ya, lied to your face and done EVERYTHING to further themselves over their electorate and this Nation? What’s that definition of insanity again?

Trying to elevate a 3rd party? The Whig Party was the only successful party ever. Not saying it couldn't happen again, but extremely unlikely.

I learned faster than it seems many here.

Congratulations. You must be a Libertarian. They seem to think they have all the answers.
