Qx thinks he looks like a genuinely compassionate and caring guy.
If he's as sensitive a guy as he looks to be, he may have come upon either so much or such shocking pedo info that he couldn't handle living in such a world any longer.
If he was being framed somehow--to keep him quiet of what he'd learned--that could be an explanation, too. Would be intolerable for him.

I saw the picture of him as was posted earlier. There is an right pointing arrow next to his left cheek. I rotated through a number of pix. Graduation, other face shots, and saw one of him at a gun range. Did not see bedroom.

I see that article says he was depressed - wonder if he was on Prozac or other SSRI? First reports stated that he had said he was at the white house to seek help from Mattis to take a chip out of his head - lots of shooters these days are hearing voices - could be Prozac side effect, or Mind Control.
People who had partial view of the scene thought he was shot while talking on the phone - heard two shots. However, the other first reports stated that he shot his phone and then himself.
