...Marketers spent $16 billion on location-targeted ads served to mobile devices like smartphones and tablet computers in 2017... .The data required to serve you any single ad might pass through many companies systems in millisecondsfrom data broker to ad marketplace to an agencys custom system... There are plenty of ways to track you without getting your permission. Some of the most intrusive are the easiest to implement... The spy in your pocket... Your telco knows where you are at all times, because it knows which cell towers your phone is near. In the U.S., how much data service providers sell is up to them.

I dont know about any of you, but if you’re buying my data to mine for profit, you’re losing money.
That will simply bring more adverts for paint and painting services to your screen.
That said, I want the lions share of the value they receive on ‘my’ data.
Same with me and ads and commercials. I don't watch TV, but when I did Commercials meant it was time to pee or refresh my drink. Same thing now on the internet. I don't know the last time I bought anything because of a commercial. I liked some of the old Budweiser commercials, but they never convinced me to buy their swill.
LOL !
Actually I do know about it.
That’s why my smartphone has the battery removed except during the rare times I’m actually using it.
In the wrong hands this sort of location data being available in real time could lead to all sorts of nastiness for those who have attracted the wrong sort of attention from those with access to it. For the rest of us we’re just a blip they’re making a little money off of, they don’t know anything about us other than the data captured.
Same here. My attempts to make myself appear to be a person of the opposite gender who is 15 years older than me have apparently been very successful. LMAO.
If you're already retired then they can use your location info to find out who you interact with and fire them.
My only comment is: OF COURSE IT IS!
Bkmk spies near hom
It would be interesting to find out how many of us already have tails.
Not me

I keep saying it:
More technology = less freedom.
I turned off the function that kept asking me to do surveys/ratings, etc., as my phone ‘recognized’ the establishments I was in/around. Zero input from me = wasted $ for those who buy the info.
Good info. Thanks for sharing.
One of the biggest reasons I do NOT have a cell phone & I refuse to have one.
I got raised with a crank telephone on the wall of the farm kitchen. I don’t need a ‘phone’ in my picket.
