Weather was pretty bad in the Northeast today. But no matter how bad your commute or travel plans were, I don't think they were worse than 50 or so souls aboard a United Airlines flight into Dulles airport outside Washington reportedly endured.
The single line on an otherwise staid official report from the Aviation Weather Center at the National Weather Service says it all:
P CRJ2/TB MOD-SEV/RM VERY BUMPY ON DESCENT. PRETTY MUCH EVERY ONE ON THE PLANE THREW UP. PILOTS WERE ON THE VERGE OF THROWING UP. AWC-WEB

I fly Emirates a lot, and that is unthinkable.

I remember a 1980 Forest Service flight on a DC-3. Lots of thunderstorms that night, and I might have been the only one who didn’t puke. You’re right, the first one or two start the chain reaction.

I flew on an “express” flight over Kansas once and the turbo prop was dropping altitude and literally moving side to side giving the thrill more of any rollercoaster. I admit that I was scared but the pilots treated it like a day at the office.

Turbo prop and regional jets. They fly in the horrible zone. 16,000 to 22,000 feet. Not enough to get above the weather and too big and regulated to scud run under it.

Ever since they got rid of the weight requirements this has been a problem on US airlines.
Could you explain that to me? I've never heard of that.

That is one of my favorite movies...
If you saw only that scene, you would think it is a strange movie indeed. But it is a “fantasy” of a kid telling a story to a bunch of his friends around a campfire.
The movie is wonderful...”Chopper! Sic Balls!” was a part that made me laugh...:)

On a hot humid summer morning a long time ago, my brother and I went up in a small private airplane with a flight instructor friend. I sat in the back. I was already pretty miserable just sitting on the hot tarmac waiting for clearance to takeoff.
When we finally got clearance, we only went up to about 1,000 feet and did various maneuvers. Vents were open but no air was getting back to me.
Since I was in the back, I received an exaggerated effect of the planes movements. I was fighting back the urge to vomit the entire flight and was so glad to finally get back on the ground and out of that plane.
