Listen up, Mary J. Blige, Diane Warren, and all the other artists nominated for best original song this year. One of you will win the award. And to save you the trouble, I

Dont care
I have no intention of watching the oscars this weekend let alone supporting an anti-American industry.
“The Way We Were” is better than “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp.”
"Magnificent Seven"
"Summer Place"
"Exodus"
"Jailhouse Rock"
"Singin' In The Rain"
"Que Sera Sera"
"Goldfinger/James Bond Theme"
RE: Its Hard Out Here for a Pimp.
Hmmm... I wonder why that was not the worst....
I loved “Under the Sea” and “The Way You Look Tonight “
I would dump “Moon River” , “When You Wish Upon a Star” and “White Christmas”.
Thought “Gigi”, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” and “Into the West” were better.
The whole list of winners (and nominees) is in the link.

When at their best, Elton John and Bernie Taupin are perhaps the only songwriting duo on par with Lennon and McCartney.
Stopped reading right there.
And No, I won’t be watching either
Those were the daze, My FRiend
Mary J. Bilge? Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while.
I think he means Mary Blige.
She’s the one who sang in a ‘controversial’ TV commercial about Burger King fried chicken wraps. April 2012. Some people thought it was (wait for it) racist. The ad was pulled after a few days. Mary apologized to those who were offended.
I recall reading somewhere about “You Light Up My Life” was, in the author’s words, such a ridiculous choice when one had Carly Simon’s “Nobody Does It Better” (from “The Spy Who Loved Me”) as an easy winner.
The best version of "Swingin' on a Star" was done in Hudson Hawk
FYI “Talk to the Animals” beat “The Look of Love” in 1968. So there’s that.
got to meet Debby Boone and Victoria Principle at the Battle of the Network Stars in 1978. Victoria Principle was nice to the fans but Debby Boone was very unfriendly
Looking at the list again, I see “The Way We Were” bested another Bond song “Live and Let Die”. I recall reading in the same commentary as “You Light Up My Life” versus “Nobody Does it Better” that for some reason, the Academy tended to look down on Bond movies back in those days for some reason or another in spite of the very well done music and photography and other things.
The best song that was never nominated is If Love is a Red Dress (Hand Me in Tags) from Pulp Fiction.
Written and sung by Maria McKee.

My heart is empty
Your eyes are dull
Once we were hungry
Now we are full
These ties that bind us
Can’t beat these chains
If love is shelter
I’m gonna walk in the rain
You were my angel
Now you are real
So like a stranger
Colder than steel
The morning after
No one should brag
If love is a red dress
Well hang me in rags
Oh well, there goes the fairy tale
Lord, ain’t it a shame
In all this comfort, i can’t take the strain
If we played even
I’d be your queen
But someone was cheatin’
And it wasn’t me
I played on the table
You held something back
If love is aces, gimme the jack
Phil Collins gets a pass on the worst? Credibility gone.
