Did Dicks make the corporate decision to stop selling the dreaded AR, high capacity mags and change the age to sell a firearm to 21 on their own or were they pressured? At any rate I will not be shopping at Dicks any longer over their stupid heart string tug decision. The AR has never killed a sole or creature without the assistance of a human to make the interaction function as designed.
Yep, I have seen people who are elated by this Dick’s News today.
I don’t shop there, never have, never will.
There is a large Cabelas in Wheeling WV just an hour from Pittsburgh. You can get anything there you can get at Dicks minus the surly teenager employee s.. If dicks wants to stop carrying scary guns, fine, Id have no issue. But when they add lobbying for legislation, they cross the line.
If they want to stop selling a product that’s their decision and I don’t have a problem with it. If my husband needs another AR he can go to Cabelas.
If they’re doing it to jump on the “Me Too” bandwagon and somehow feel virtuous then that’s just sad.
Stopped buying from these clowns the last time they did this and never started again. I will never darken their doors for a nickel’s worth of goods even if I have to drive fifty miles to get it some place else.
Good parents will buy their kids AR’s!
You ever had issues with PSA stuff? I have not.
The AR 15 killed the 17 children, that’s why.
These CEO’s making these emotional decisions need to have a good bowel movement and clear their minds.
One word: “Cabelas”.
CC
“Academy where they put it out on the shelves and not locked up behind a counter”
You know, I’ve purchased ammo there many times and I never really thought about that.
How is Dicks still in business?
Rarely ever go to Dick’s anymore, since I usually leave without buying anything. Reasons: 1) Prices are WAY HIGHER than Academy or online, 2) Selection sucks, it’s mostly clothes and 3) Firearm selection is minimal to non-existent.
Hope Dicks sales go flaccid and leaving their owners unsatisfied.
A man on Varney — CEO of HotelPlanner.com — is standing firm about not boycotting the NRA. Another one on our “good” list.
I’ve been doing business with Dick’s for years and, of late, with Field and Stream, a subsidiary of Dick’s. I just sent them the following letter:
Dear Sir or Madam:
First of all, I live in an area where the closest Dick’s Sporting Goods Stores are in Altoona and Greensburg. For years, I’ve been willing to travel to both locations to do business with Dick’s. Since I am a hunter and fisherman, more recently I’ve done quite a bit of business with Field and Stream in Altoona and Cranberry since they’re closer than the Cabela’s in Wheeling. And, just to be entirely forthcoming, I’m also a retired Army officer, I retired from a second career with the FBI and I am a Benefactor Life Member of the National Rifle Association. Although I own a considerable number of guns, I do not own an AR-style rifle of any type, nor any other military-style weapon. I carried an M-16A1, an M-4 and other military weapons - real assault weapons - for over 20 years and, although I have no desire to own one now, I don’t object to anyone owning a semi-automatic firearm, no matter how it “looks”.
I spent the most productive years of my life in places most Americans couldn’t find on a map defending our constitutional rights - all of them. I am utterly disgusted by the knee-jerk reactions of corporations that kowtow to the demands of the extreme left in the United States in the name of false “corporate responsibility” and political correctness and I am not alone. Like many other gun owners, members and supporters of the NRA, we have options and I have permanently severed my relationship with any such company with whom I’ve done business.
Can you not see that government - from the school, to the county and sheriff’s department, to the FBI - failed the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and the citizens of Broward County? Everything that we have been urged to do, summarized by “See Something, Say Something,” was done by the citizens, but government at all levels failed. It was not the NRA and not the AR-15 that led to the shooting, it was ineptitude and malfeasance on the part of a government that purports to protect us.
I acknowledge that it is your right as a corporation to sell whatever products you choose, including any particular type of weapon. I hope you will acknowledge that it is my right as a citizen to do business with whomever I choose, for whatever reason I might have and I will not darken the door of a Dick’s Sporting Goods or Field and Stream ever again. As Warren Buffett said recently - and I paraphrase, “It would be ridiculous to stop doing business with gun owners.”
I suspect you’re going to discover that we are better customers than Sheriff Israel, David Hogg, Jimmy Kimmel and their fellow travelers, but at least our business is appreciated by Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops and other, less reactionary local and national businesses.
Never did shop there much, and never bought a gun there (but I did buy some .22 there during the ammo shortage)...
...but that’ll never happen again. I’d rather pay more to Bass Pro, right across the parking lot here in San Antonio, than give Dick’s one red cent. You either back the 2nd Amendment like you back the first, or you’ll have to do without my business.
Never heard of Dicks store

I dont understand why someone thinks an AR15 is an assault style (stupid term) anything. Its a rifle
