I toss it in plastic bags, throw it in the fridge and micro the next day and the next day, too.

Mice like it, too. If it doesn’t kill them, it won’t kill you, will it? /SARC

I often reheat leftovers but I have never heard of anyone leaving food out overnight. I don’t even trust it in the refrigerator after a day.

There are some things which will keep in the fridge for a few days but mostly, I freeze it or throw it away after a day.

what’s the point in having an immune system if you don’t give it a workout once in a while?

As long as the veg is under the cheese, the meat on top is browned and the beer is cold... yer good to go.

If you saw the crap I ate in 2003 deployment to Iraq you would understand why I’m not afraid of day old cold pizza.

Yeah. Sure. The pH of the stomach is ~1.5 to 3.5. That’s extremely acidic. Some bacteria can survive that, but most will not. I am much more concerned about ingesting chemicals than about ingesting bacteria. Leaving pizza out overnight, or for a couple of days, is low risk.

Between the salt and the acid and the low water content, the risk is virtually nil.

I’ve eaten two-day old pepperoni pizza and had no ill effects.

I refrigerate. I will take their advice and avoid any month old pizza recovered from behind the couch.

General rule of thumb: “if it looks OK, smells OK and tastes OK, it probably OK”

If it looks wonky and smells funky....

Thank you for your service and for your insights about day old pizza. I have plenty of friends who are germaphobes. It's kind of ridiculous. How many people have you heard about who died after eating day old pizza?

According to a review of global food poisoning databases, pizza has been implicated in a number of foodborne illness outbreaks worldwide,

yeah??? let me tell ya, there's a good chance an equal number get sick on pizza right out of the oven...

A little explosive diarrhea never killed anyone.

...okay, maybe it's killed a few people, but what are the odds?
