Ive been saying for a while now that too many scammers and opportunists have been taking advantage of the Tea Party and conservative grassroots.
But the most illuminating thing in the piece is simply this table:
It shows what each organization spent on 2014 cycle followed by how much each PAC gave to politicians either directly or through independent expenditures on their behalf. Then, last but not least, we have the percentage of their money they spent that actually went into independent expenditures & direct contributions." ". . . the 10 PACs at the bottom of this list spent $54,318,498 and only paid out $3,621,896 to help get Republicans elected."

No argument from me, I’ve said for years now that the whole Tea Party movement was nothing but a sham designed to enrich the various factions who claimed ownership of it, and a way of putting terrible unelectable candidates on the ballot who have either been beaten, quit, or ineffective.
The movement we needed is MAGA, Trumpism, aka the emerging new GOP, Donald J. Trump, prop.
(Of course the pukes at NRO would never agree with that statement).
This out-of-date article is by NR’s Jonah Goldberg, who lives in a big DC mansion and (according to FEC records) has NEVER DONATED A PENNY to Republican candidates.
DISAGREE....
At the inception of the Tea Party, I was one of the folks standing on the street corner beating on a pan with a big wooden spoon. We made a bunch of racket at the traffic light and got lots of thumbs up to our protest.
Obama and his evil assistant, Lois Lerner, should be run out of town on a rail.
I tried to make the following my tag-line but it was too long:
Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket. Eric Hoffer
Right. The tea party rebellion had absolutely nothing to do with the republicans being swept into office in growing numbers in nearly every local, state and national election since it sprang up. Millions of dollars in tea party expenditures for thousands of rallies and advertising campaigns all for naught. /s
So that makes this article useless? Personally, I have no problem with journalists making no political donations.
Donald Trump and MAGA did more to light up America, on so much LESS, than the Leftist universe spent, during that 2016 campaign.
These PAC politicians are not only a clown operation but largely an enrichment scam. Who didnt know this already?
Money talks and the pols then take a walk. Heck, ACORN had better voter influence results using just shoe leather than most of these conservative PACS.
Or...the Republicans co-opt the Tea Party and, in doing so, debase the organization until finally the last of the good people drift off and the organization dies (our personal experience).
#1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 are all fronts for the Cheap Labor Express
Yes, but the original Tea Party you represented rocked it on their own dime. Nobody paid their airfare to go to DC, or for their shoe leather on the local street corners. The original Tea Party wasnt a PAC production, but a people production that roused a nation.
There have been some genuinely terrible candidates (e.g., Todd 'Magic Uterus' Akin) but generally "unelectable" is RINO-speak for "conservative."
So big government, not small government?
How is protecting ACA, giving tax cuts to illegals, and increasing spending more than the Democrats helping the U.S.?
I nitice you said helping America, not helping the United States. That means it will help the other countries on the continents of America, not the U.S. I always watch who says America and who says United States. They are telling you a lot about what they really mean.
That’s a myth. He was not the conservative candidate.
Love Eric Hoffer. Such an unlikely genius, and so far ahead of his time.
I suffer no prickly affects from the word AMERICA. I am an American.
I grew up singing “AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL”, as frequently as the National Anthem, and learning in public school of WWII and the Ellis Island years. Those were the immigrants who knew all about what “coming to America” meant and they knew exactly what “America” meant to them and for them. Count me in on their sentiments.
The rest of the argument is mis-direction out of the politically correct playbook, of which I pay no attention whatsoever. (Personally, I use USA interchangeably as my many replies on FR will prove.)
On your second inquiry, I don’t see how it remotely relates to my little comment above, so I don’t get what it is that you’re even driving at. (Hate to end with a preposition, but..)
How true! The RINO code for defining the “unelectable” has long been broken, since Dole, I’d say.
Only if they are politically correct snowflakes like you.
