They had armed security, that didn’t work. That might help if their unions didn’t push their own safety first. Common sense tells you if a teacher’s life, and that of students, are at stake, they will do whatever it takes.
Ex military snipers on rooftops during school hours. It works for NY eve, presidential motorcades, etc.Shooters have to be stopped BEFORE they get into the building. Walls, mine fields,I don’t give a darn. Locked doors won’t do it if they’re determined to shoot their way IN. Hell, can parents who have licenses to carry just do a voluntary perimeter to protect their children if the school system won’t? Signup for carpool, sign up for perimeter guard?
One good reason to keep the gun out of sight and strapped. These teachers (and I include anyone else on campus who is authorized to be part of campus security) have no real need for quick draw holsters. They will have warning in most cases before someone breaks into their classroom.
“...there’s only one entrance into the building...”
But fire codes demand multiple exits, which have to be monitored in some fashion, physically and electronically with armed guards on every corner.
“The teachers are there to teach not defend kids.”
In reality, there would be only a few teachers with concealed carry — males, basically, wearing jackets —would only have to change dress codes — all teachers would have to wear jackets to give anonymity.
You make some good points but there are thousands and thousands of schools and the cost would be prohibitive. And as the kids enter they are bunched up and make easy targets.
