I think I have come up with a really elegant retort to those that call for banning firearms after the Florida school shooting.
Liberal: "WE NEED TO BAN GUNS TO PREVENT ANOTHER SCHOOL SHOOTING."
Me: "I say we ban children instead. It would be more effective than even gun bans at preventing another school shooting."
It does two things: It shocks the person who uttered the gun ban line, and it demonstrates the absurdity of trying to ban things to prevent school shootings.
Need to put it on Instagram and Snapchat....where the kids are

Needs repeating at every opportunity but at this point, I’m tired of talking. If someone thinks they can stop mass shootings by taking away my legally owned firearms, come try to take them.

I’d been thinking that schools are the common element in school shootings and that we should ban them, but banning children is even better.
Well the nuns of yesterday did a pretty good job. Get out of line and they beat the crap out of you. Go home and complain to your parents, and they'd beat the crap out of you for disrespecting the nuns.
Catholic data was fascinating, but likely is signicantly a proxy for union vs. non-union schools. I’d love to see the data on NEA schools vs. non-union shops. There likely will be some AFT or even smaller player shot ups, but “Ban the NEA, not the NRA!” may rally the right better than an explicitly pro-Catholic message and it would hit the left harder.
