I admit I’m confused by the Finnish settlers description. I only knew of the settlement as Swedish. I had an 8th ggf who was Vice-Director of the colony 1658-64, after the Dutch took it over. Absolutely fascinating to see an interior so well preserved or rebuilt.

Sweden controlled Finland at the time, the settlers were probably ethnic Finns.

I believe, in the 1600s Finland was ruled by the Swedes. Hence ethnically Finnish settlers could settle in a Swedish colony....
They were called ‘Forest Finns’
