Researchers discovered that subjects who drank about two glasses of beer or wine a day were 18 percent less likely to experience a premature death, the Independent reports.
Meanwhile, participants who exercised 15 to 45 minutes a day, cut the same risk by 11 percent.
I have no explanation for it, but I do firmly believe that modest drinking improves longevity, Kawas stated over the weekend at the American Association for the Advancement of Science annual conference in Austin, Texas.
Other factors were found to boost longevity, including weight. Participants who were slightly overweight but not obese cut their odds of an early death by 3 percent.

Good thing then that I only drink when I am alone or with someone.
“My mom died 3 months shy of her 103rd birthday. Never had a drop.”
I can remember my mother on all 4’s after a goodly number of Manhattans but she only made it to 100 so you are probably right.
Party pooper.
It kills cold and flu germs also.
So dying before age 90 is considered a "premature" death????
I’m going to live forever. :-)
This is going to be an interesting thread.
I always keep some whiskey handy in case I see a snake...which I also keep handy.

Would they vote for her in 2144?
“Too much weight of course is bad because it puts a strain on the body but five to ten pounds is no problem.
When it is forty to fifty, you have a problem. “
What about the gray area of 20-30 pounds?
I am a fairly modest bedrinker. I seldom take my clothes off when I drink.
“Good thing then that I only drink when I am alone or with someone.”
“Get your hand off my drink!”
“”That’s your hand.”
It’s probably a synergistic logarithmic combination and you will live 96% longer.
That study was paid for by my local pub/brewery. I’m sure of it.
“Confusing cause and effect again. Correlation is not cause.”
In this case it is.

Possibly, these people are the ones who are moderate in most things, which is a good recipe for a long happy life. If there’s a correlation with being moderate in food, emotions and life in general then it would make sense
“...subjects who drank about two glasses of beer or wine a day were 18 percent less likely to experience a premature death...”
Subjects who drank about two or more 6-packs of beer a day were much more likely to experience a premature death. Primarily due to “Hold my beer while I try this” syndrome. Learn to hold your liquor and let someone else try that crap.
It also depends on how big your frame is. Shaquille O'Neal could probably carry 30 pounds with no problem.
With an extra 30 I would have a distinct resemblance to the Pillsbury dough boy. And I do not giggle when poked in the tummy. :)
