PARKER COUNTY - It's been a tumultuous 24 hours for a young Chihuahua mix named Pumpkin.
"She would like to take a nap," said Parker County Animal Control Supervisor Karen Kessler, whose arms Pumpkin was nuzzling into.
The tiny pup was found Thursday, roaming a lot in rural Weatherford. A woman named Vanessa was the one who discovered her. "It was very skittish at first," Vanessa said of the dog. "It didn't want [to go] anywhere near me."
Vanessa's family has had trouble with people illegally dumping on their property, so they set up game cameras. She went to check them to see if there were any clues as to how the dog got there.

I’ve got a cat she can take with her on her next trip...
She could have taken it to a shelter, would be the right thing to do. But the shelters are jammed. It would have been euthanized fairly soon unless it got picked up by a rescue. They are one of the top 3 highest euthanized breeds nationwide.
The woman needs to be tossed from a car.
I rescued our big dog from the street. On my way to work one morning, cars were backed up due to a puppy (big newfie puppy). It was a one lane windy road but I got out to get him. I had to crawl under the car for him. Someone was looking out for us because during the escapade not a single car came down the street.
Doncha hate when that happens?

Ironic, isn’t it? Hopefully, this Chi will have a good life with someone who likes the breed and yappy factor.
Ha! The perpetrator is from Springtown. That figures!
