Holder needs to be arrested and Chicago nuked if you don't have adequate police force.
Very sad. It seems from the article that they have the killer in custody, at least - no description other than wearing a long black coat with a fur collar, which seems to be common drug thug attire these days.
The cop was just there by accident, to do a training class. He sounds like a good guy.
May he rest in peace! No mercy for the perps...probably Obama’s other sons.
Read the story. He wasnt out on a bust.
Hmmmm...
Was he going to rat someone out..?
“The shot just came OUT OF NOWHERE..!!!”
He was a good guy as far as everything I’ve been reading.
How ironic. Thompson/Center makes some very nice firearms...
;-)
I wonder if the leaders of Chicago has ever thought about maybe enacting some reasonable, modest, common-sense, just-one-step-at-a-time gun control, so this sort of thing wouldn’t happen any more.
He was. He's the nephew of a friend of ours. It's a real loss to the whole city, as well as the family.
But he did get personally involved. A lot of commanders would not have had the balls to do that. From what I’ve read, this was a “white shirt” who was popular with the rank-and-file.
THIS time my idiosyncrasy wasn't devastating.
This happened a few blocks from where I work. It was crazy around here for awhile.
The outpouring of support from both Chicago PD and Chicago Fire Dept. was far beyond the words I have in my vocabulary to describe. The streets were lined with police and fire dept paying tribute and hundreds escorted his body to the morgue.
It was quite moving. By all accounts, Paul Bauer was a man's man and a cop's cop. A real stand-up guy. Left behind a wife and an 11 year old daughter.
I'll tel you this: when they have a fundraiser for his family I'll be there and contribute. If we know anything about the Chicago PD, when they lose one of their family, they embrace those left behind and make darn sure they're taken care of.
As someone who works in Chicago, your statement is about as disrespectful as it can be to Commander Bauer and the good people of Chicago who really do their best to make the city a good place.
The rest I have to say, I cannot repeat publicly. Not sure it'd be worth it saying it privately ........
Prob no vest.
I meant no disrespect and another FReeper pointed out the error in my logic (commander on a bust), but my sentiment is still valid.
I screwed up on the man, I meant Ennanuel, but Holder would do, too.
IF a city with the highest murder rate in the nation (that continues to climb) can't stop that murder rate .... the police force (unfortunately) needs to be seriously weaponized and re-indoctrinated in ... "crowd control", or shut the damned thing down.
I don't live there and most other FReepers don't as well.
What we know is what we read .
Sorry you're offended, but you've been here long enough, I owe you the respect of an answer.
I encourage you to read this morning's Second City Cop and their comments about Commander Bauer, the job he did and why it's so hard to control crime in Cook County (Chicago.)
It may give you a new appreciation for just how hard their job has been made by the liberal courts, liberal prosecutors, liberal judges and liberal politicians.
Your words about not being able to stop the murder rate did not fall on my (going deaf, seriously..) ears. I think you just don't have the knowledge to form a more informed opinion as to why the Chicago Police are unable to do so.
Respectfully,
USC
