The Solo movie is Disney trying to bleed blood out of a stone. The best Disney Star Wars is the most original: Rogue One.

The best Disney Star Wars is the most original: Rogue One. Concur. The rest have been variations on the original theme. Rogue One was far superior in story and content.

Because it's:

Seriously though, because it's a story no one asked for. How Han Solo bought his boots at the Space Store isn't nearly as interesting as what happened in the original trilogy.
Movie makers, do new things, please!

Star Wars is not watchable. It is preachy, progressive and predictable. It is very stale. Perhaps they can spice it up. Say contact with Star Trek vessels. The fact is that despite lame plots and geriatric recycled characters, Disney knows that given its large vapid audience, they can produce almost any “Star Wars” movie and make money.

Even Mark Hamill said that the writers betrayed the character of Luke Skywalker.
And Greedo shooting first was revisionist nonesense.

I am still a big fan of the Original Trilogy. The prequels that Lucas did were worthless IMO. That's because I am not interested in seeing the beginning of a story when I've already seen the middle and the end. Prequels are among the least interesting type of movie to me. I will probably skip the Han solo movie but I wish them no ill will. Of the Disney films, I only saw The Force Awakens which I did not care for. Maybe I should check out Rogue One.
And Han did not shoot "first". Han was the only one who shot at all. Greedo just sat there and died.

Maybe because the lead actor is not a very good actor? Just a thought.

Ron Howard does good films...if the movie succeeds, it will be because Ron Howard was able to give some life back to the film. Ron Howard was in his later 20’s during the ‘70’s and knew the directors of that era well. He did a powerful movie called “Backdraft” as his first major smash. I almost wish that he could have been chosen to do the “Force Awakens”!

Why do we need a prequel movie about Han Solo?
Because he's the only character they haven't completely messed up yet? He's also the one character nearly everyone likes.
Boys rarely pretended to be Luke Skywalker. They pretended to be Darth Vader or Han Solo. Little girls didn't want to marry Luke, they wanted Han, Force or no Force.
How else can you make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs?

Because there are too many Star Wars movies and Harrison Ford is Han Solo.

They politicized the franchise. They vaginized it needlessly too. Gravity doesn’t work in space (dropping bombs from slow moving bombers onto star destroyers), et. al.
It was a horrible film, from start to finish. The story didn’t make sense, and the physics was so bad you couldn’t suspend disbelief (Leia’s body should have exploded once it left the ship.) The ‘mary poppins’ thing was too much.
