Automation in McDonald's makes sense - the process is already so heavily standardized they just need to make it make financial sense

Instead of cashiers, the touchscreens are cheaper. Next, a machine to put together your burger and fries.

They need to slim down the menu further, but I'm going to guess that by 2020 you will have close to fully automated McDonald's places.

At DFW they have gone to all kiosks in the MacDonalds.
