It takes a lot to anger the Dutch, but NBC’s Katie Couric managed to strike a nerve over comments she made during the Opening Ceremonies.
Now, most people just watch the color and pageantry rather than focusing on the announcers, but Couric’s reasoning for why the Netherlands is so dominant in speedskating stopped everyone. Couric mentioned Amsterdam’s canals and pointed out that skating is “an important mode of transportation” when the canals freeze over.
I just got home and have to water the mule. He’s always tired after a ride into town. I’ll read this when I’m done.

But I’ll give Couric credit for one thing. At least she didn’t bring up Global Warming

She was saving Global Warming for if they lost it would have been the Canals wouldn’t freeze over and they couldn’t practice.
You have to think they are ‘winging’ this crap as no one with any sanity would write this stuff for them - Unless, they ‘weewee’ of the staff on a continuing basis...Then figure they are too dumb to know what they are reading..

How is anything that shallow, talentless, washed-up narcissist says meaningful to anyone? She should go do infomercials for ‘anti aging’ cosmetics. She must use a TON.
People like Couric and Mika think they need to tell us what to think. They are really of low intelligence. When Biden told Couric that FDR got on TV after the stock market crash she nodded in agreement.

NBC hires an Asian expert to give historical context to the opening ceremony, and then fires him when he says something historical.

Here is West Texas I was riding my horse to town when I heard it. ;) Reminds me of GWB saying ““Americans don’t want to pick cotton at 105 degrees (Fahrenheit), but there are people who want put food on their family’s tables and are willing to do that. We ought to say thank you and welcome them.” Is he suggesting we get rid of our mechanical harvesting equipment and import huge crews to pick our cotton? Can you get anymore asinine and out of touch than GWB’s comment and Curic?

I have not been interested in the Olympics this year. I too think listening to Couric is a big reason. Grating voice. Also I don’t like looking at or listening to the commentator Weir on figure skating. He is too much a caricature and flaming for me.
