A Florida Outback Steakhouse worker says she filled a local megachurchs $735 takeout order and then was fired when she ranted on social media about not getting a tip.
...
Christ Fellowship Church in Palm Beach Gardens was holding a conference and called in an order to the local Outback Wednesday for 25 steak dinners, 25 chicken dinners and 25 side orders of potatoes that Yoder said she had to prepare, costing her other tips.
...
A friend read her post and called the church to complain and was told that the person who picked up the food didnt know to leave a tip.
Coming in to eat or takeout, you should automatically be wanting to tip 15 percent, Yoder said. From there, you either go up or go down based on service.
A church representative called the restaurant Thursday to make it up to Yoder.
Nevertheless, she was shown the door.
... Outback has a strict policy forbidding workers from posting about customers on social media, WSVN reported.
Outback even reimbursed the church for its big order.
We did not call the restaurant to have her fired, we wanted to get the situation resolved, church official David Lonsberry told the Palm Beach Post.

Am I the only one here who finds it disturbing that this “church” needs to spend $750.00 on a steak lunch for members?
I don’t have to look far or hard to see it. Just because the media doesn’t report it doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
This waiter complained about the tip to Paulie and Christopher..

Ooo-kay.
Enjoy your meal.
I submit your logic falls into the latter. Almost, not quite, not certain. Ergo, confused.
Now, you are most certainly a d*ck. Or enjoy them on the sly. I'll leave that determination to some "fuzzy logic".
I'm sure you give oodles to charity. Based on your word. It's true. I don't know you. I run with a decent crowd, therefore I'm sure I don't know you. I suppose I'd have to just take your word for the charity claim. Trust, but verify? Nah.
If your order is prepared by a server who is paid $2.31, tips would be appropriate. That is unless your charitable spirit applies to all, including the panhandlers. Which it likely doesn't because you recoil at tipping.
As for your demands for detailed rationale, forget it. Demand from your spouse or your underlings (if you have any), not from others who view your chintziness as a character flaw.
Your earlier claim that your breakfast/lunch waitress loves you and you tip 50% or so means nothing. Perhaps you spend $10 on a three egg special and $5 doesn't hurt your wallet or coin changer. The claim means little. Perhaps you do so to ingratiate yourself to her and continue to get to ogle her pert bosom. Maybe you don't know it and she merely tolerates you and you think she likes you. Here's some reality: servers always make you think you're something special. It helps them get tips. ;-)
Though I do not drink, I usually sit at the bar because I don’t want to tie up a table if alone and I use my cell for work and I will answer if I get a work related call.
I tip a minimum of 3 bucks and about 30% if over $20.
I do NOT tip if I go to a pizza place and order take out, I do NOT tip where the establishment takes my money before starting my order.
If I get home delivery, min 5 and 30% over $20 ...
Tips are a way of saying Thanks. Tips are not entitlements.

My ex would get whizzed when I would leave a quarter or so when receiving bad service.
She said it was embarrassing, just leave them nothing.
I contend that by leave a little THEY should get the message that I didn’t ‘forget’ them, maybe they should work on their serving skills...(one of my earlier/part time jobs was bartending so I do tend to overtip)
another goodie is ask for change of a quarter and leave them a dime or nickel ... Then they REALLY get the message.
I tip the maid a minimum of a couple bucks. Usually 5$ if more than one of us is using the room.
I am curious to know the general total of your bill when you sit at someones table for 90 minutes.
Ive never asked for change for a quarter - ha! Well, Id never do that but it sure must deliver the message. I try to be as understanding and forgiving as possible. Accidents And kitchen type mistakes happen, too. Hostile or insulting waiters are still unacceptable

Why would you tip for takeout???? That’s like tipping at Somic. This is the managers fault.
The word “neurotic” comes to mind. I’m done with this absurd logic you have. I don’t tip for picking up a pizza, I don’t know anyone that does, and I don’t know how it is any different for another place. You’re assuming it’s all handled by a server making $2.31/hr.
Assumptions kill.
That you’ve gone so over the top on this topic, to insult repeatedly another member of this site as you have, I’m done with you. Please do not post to me.
Waaaay off base. The media believes and reports russian collusion. Or maybe you have missed that.
You are battling windmills my friend
This is scold central
Prolly tip like old black govt worker women around here
I tip very well especially women servers
And take out when someone prepares it in bags and boxes like at outback or PF Chang or Magiannos or Buca etc
And on 700 bill with 25 orders I’d have left prolly 70 bucks for takeout at least.....
200 on a sit down if they were attentive
I know some people get hyper-vigilant and see things that aren’t there. Apophenia and all.
I would rather be hyper-vigilant than have my head in the sand as the world passes by.
People who don’t tip are lowlifes. I tip for take out, I tip at counters and if I ever *had* been friends with someone who didn’t tip- and WELL- I’d never have anything to do with that person again.
Anyone on their feet all day deserves every damned cent they get.
