The opening ceremonies haven't been held, but figure skating started today!
Mr. RooRoo is semi-suicidal, he HATES figure skating.
All snarky color commentators, please weigh in!!!!
I'll throw out the first pitch: The second male skater (from Germany I believe) chose a HORRIBLE costume, he had big yucky armpit sweat stains, it was hard to focus on anything else.
German couple now up.
Cant wait for the hydroblading hijabs.
Mehhhh.......Mr RooRoo has commandeered the remote, am being forced to watch men’s luge training runs instead of figure skating.
Loved the German couple’s interpretation of 1920’s figure skating.
The fall was a setback for sure but they were fun to watch and I loved the period costumes.
I agree. Germans were the most entertaining
Team Russia... beautiful short program - world class pairs skating.
Russia is in first place after the short program.
Credit goes to the FReeper from whom I stole that gif.
Sorry I missed the curling. I’ll have to check teh schedule to see when it’s on again.
On TV: Friday 8pm Eastern

Nope. It stared two days ago. The curling was first and then came downhill trials. Then in day two which ran last night on NBC and NBCSN they had pairs skating and some skiing and snowboarding and more curling. At 6am EST was the opening ceremony today. It lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. The NBC feed was without commentators online. The only issues was The South Korean president only spoke in Korean and no translation. But, I also got the CBC version and they had a translator plus commentators.
No.
This girl already won a medal.
She participated in mixed curling. One man, one woman.
The regular team curling will be starting now just about.
Mixed curling was interesting and entertaining.
A bit like speed chess.
Only 2 people, and stones have to go and go.
Figure out the best shot fast, then go and sweep your own stone.
So, Bronze medal for Anastasia :)
Anyhow, since everything has to happen really fast you get more crazy curling because.... yeah. Speed chess. Imho, a welcome addition to the Olympic program, even though neither my country or yours medalled.
