Add this to the list of decisions affected by climate change: Should I have children?
It is not an easy time for people to feel hopeful, with the effects of global warming no longer theoretical, projections becoming more dire and governmental action lagging. And while few, if any, studies have examined how large a role climate change plays in peoples childbearing decisions, it loomed large in interviews with more than a dozen people ages 18 to 43.
A 32-year-old who always thought she would have children can no longer justify it to herself. A Mormon has bucked the expectations of her religion by resolving to adopt rather than give birth. An Ohio woman had her first child after an unplanned pregnancy and then had a second because she did not want her daughter to face an environmental collapse alone.
Among them, there is a sense of being saddled with painful ethical questions that previous generations did not have to confront. Some worry about the quality of life children born today will have as shorelines flood, wildfires rage and extreme weather becomes more common. Others are acutely aware that having a child is one of the costliest actions they can take environmentally.

Big families never particularly pollute. What pollutes is this Kim Kadarshian culture of spending on Chinese garbage and the government leviathan
Poaching is what the problem is. A single poacher can do more damage to the planet in a short time than modest people keeping to themselves in Hong Kong where population density is in the 10s of thousands per square miles
Spot on. Why would we want them to reproduce and raise more fidiots? Stay celibate assclowns.
Absolutely right, many have chosen to have dogs instead.
It's trendy and hip, donchaknow.
Yeah, keep up the not having children.
The climate will keep changing as it always has.
But we’ll see Muslim change.
Which is thousands of times worse than climate change of any type.
True dat.
Both of my parents have voted Dummycrat for half a century, and mourn the fact that their son 'went to the dark side.'
This is the thought process. Even more so if you’re white, and so is your mating partner, in which case there’s no way you could possibly do anything for your kid without conferring white privilege on them. Having a kid in that situation would be the most environmentally and socially destructive thing possible. And anyways, who are YOU to be sitting there even with no kids, enjoying your white privilege and consuming valuable environmental resources? Just will away all of your property to a social or environmental charity and kill yourself.
Yeah, Muslim invaders have no such inhibitions; they will breed at our expense.
Yeah, go for it. Sounds great. Unless it’s by abortinon.
But actually, these selfish people would benefit by having children to take dare if. Childless couples are almost always liberal.
This article is perfect in explaining what the New York Times is today.
Make this concept an entrance requirement for the Ivy League colleges.

Observe Darwinian law.
They are going to be upset when they’re older and did not have children over a lie. Communists are evil.
“And to think I don’t have kids just because, well....I just don’t want any.”
That would be me. Kids scare me.
A billion stupid people who only know how to hump.
Only the “Right” kind of people are considering it.
Good on them. We don’t need any more little pansies.
Back in the 80's we were burning up, humanity wouldn't survive the 90's and snow was a thing of the past.
Some occasionally ask, What if they're right? This question implies that we shouldn't take a chance these "scientists" could be telling the truth and dire things will happen unless I give up my truck. Instead, my stock answer is that if the global warming theory is right, we are not having this conversation because we no longer exist.
A cornerstone of global warming is that we forget the lies and false predictions they have peddled for nearly forty years. They can expect no such courtesy from me. I will remember everything they said and make them account for it.
Einstein's relativity made some revolutionary predictions that have over the years been proven true; that's how its accuracy is determined, by correct predictions. Global warming, OTOH, has been conclusively been proven wrong on EVERYTHING. This is startling since even a broken clock has the right time once in a while. Based on this remarkable record, they concluded that global warming is settled science which contrary to every scientific idea since the Renaissance is beyond contestation.
