Elon Musk is a total fraud.
Men never went to the moon.
The earth is flat.

Interesting list of viewing opportunities at the site. Most are sold out.

Fraud may be a bit strong but when someone gets the amount of Government money Elon gets it sure makes the road smoother.

We have to get back to the Moon. We have a “unsustainable” cheese supply....

A popcorn fart compared to Saturn-5 which was built in the 60s. It needs to be 2x as powerful to put a significant lead over Saturn - 5.

Hence the “this generation has ever seen” line.

“Fraud may be a bit strong but when someone gets the amount of Government money Elon gets it sure makes the road smoother.”

He gets the money because he has the most cost effective and reliable launch system.

He’s been able to reliably land and reuse the most expensive part of the launcher, the stage one booster.

The guy is a hard driving genius. Read his biography if you want to get a realistic picture of the man. It was an eye opener for me.

I noticed the time frame disclosure too...they need to build a Saturn 6.

that implies they are watching something other than themselves or even notice ...

I think the most interesting part of this launch is the recovery of the three stage one boosters. Two on land back at the cape, and one on the drone ship.

When NASA ran the show exclusively everyone was crying for private enterprise to get in the game and now than they have everyone is crying the costs are too high.

If it was just NASA alone, the costs would be triple and there still would not be a working prototype let alone an actual vehicle to launch.

So subsidizing a private company some fraction of what it would have cost, had it been just NASA, is somehow ‘fraud’ or ‘road smoothing’?

The FH will be two thirds the thrust of the Saturn V. It will be twice the thrust of any other launcher currently in service. In fact, a problem with the FH is there are so few customers who will need that much lift.

BTW, SpaceX’s next rocket will have more payload capability than the Saturn V, and be completely reusable. It will be so cost efficient that it will be able to replace the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy.

Elon has greatly lowered launch costs for commercial customers and the government. There are more cost reductions in the future.

Musk isn’t motivated by money, but if government money helps him achieve his goals and it’s legally available he’s going to take it.

Maybe the greatest launch ever for spectators, both live and on the Internet.

Was it Elon Musk And The Quest For a Fantastic Future?

Yes. All those who on FR who like to make snarky and uninformed comments should read it. They are missing one of the greatest American success stories of all time.

The page says they’re going to try to land all 3 first stages...2 on land and one at sea on the barge.

This oughta be fun.

Goop points no doubt. I guess my real beef with Musk is the Government subsidies on the the cars, GM same deal. The stupid VOLT has over $10,000 on the hood so a car that should cost $45,000 or higher costs in the low to mid 30’s to “save the planet”.

Falcon BFR, set to fly around 2020, will have more lift than Saturn V
