However, if you have a slightly-kinky sense of humor, like a plot that demands watching for details and very, very unexpected twists and enjoy a different style of acting where you sometimes wonder just who is who, then this is right down you alley as it was mine.
Plus, and guess you can say this is a guy thing but the women in it are so damn hot and sexy as hell!
Okay, my 2 cents for what it is worth. Flame or agree, it is now your dime.
I don’t even watch regular TV nor have an antennae anymore. Netflix has so many good shows available that paying the $12/month is a no-brainer. I just wish they had an annual plan. I would gladly drop a $100 or so a year just to keep it and not worrying about the monthly payment screwing up my rent check like it did back in November.
Travelers is a great Netflix show, too.
I think they should make a real horror show, a show that cloned Nancy Pelosi
Did you enjoy the story or the porn?
Did it last night.
It ends satisfactorily but leaves the door open for a Season 2.
Also, the premise leaves the door open for a changing cast.
The books were excellent. Love weaponized diplomats.
Love it and I want to marry Martha Higareda...
It might be a great show, but I don’t want to give Netflix any of my money.
Just started Episode 1...
It was good. Most of the reviews I’ve read haven’t done it justice yet. They’re all the snobbish type of reviews you expect from elite tea sipping journalists who no piece of film art would meet their expectations — unless it was a SJW theme where the bad guy gets it in the end.
The protagonist starts out as a very cold suave Sci-fi film noir private detected being brought back to life in another sleeve (body) after he as captured as a particularly elite brand of revolutionary. It’s been 250 years and the world’s only grew worse for what he was fighting against -yet that’s not the story line-.
He’s been resurrected by an ultra rich and influential man who is so rich he is considered one of the gods. The people that can live forever in comfortable life styles and new versions of themselves
This god as it were was murdered. Permadeath style which ordinarily meant nothing because these people are ‘backed up’ every day or so. This god is po’ed because somebody murdered him right before a backup so he can’t remember a thing from that day. Only everything up until that day.
That you’ll discover in the first 10 minutes of the series so no spoilers here.
The show is of mixed ethnicity, Spanish, a Muslim and Roman Catholic Christians, but not focused on the subject. They all fit in naturally when and where they belonged. The theme of the show is heavily influenced by beautiful ancient Chinese drama, though not focused on anything really chineses. If you have an eclectic taste in movies you’ll understand.
Is it Blade Runner like? Only in that it’s a piece of Sci-Fi film noir set in a dystopian future. The one review I read complained about it’s similarity to Blade Runner but after reading the review it was clearly the case of a snobbish reviewer who took no pleasure or joy in anything and probably whipped himself before bed at night.
I’m watching, too. Really glad to hear it’s just 10 episodes. I hate binge-watching, then waiting around another year or more for a new season.
thanks for letting us know :D
I gave a brief review of the novel many years ago as part of a discussion of science fiction. Click on my screen name to see it.
Short version—great book.
“consciousness is digitized and stored”
No. Will not happen.
I started watching it yesterday but am only on show #4 so far and really like the eye candy (gratuitous female nudity) and the great CGI graphics. We could use a lot more quality tv like this.
Another excellent show in the Sci-Fi genre is “the Expanse”. No nudity but really good plus it’s more realistic in its approach to how space is navigated.
Surprisingly, minus the SJW crap, Star Trek: Discovery has turned out to be really good too.
One very big disappointment is the X-Files. It’s pure nonsense and overloaded with PC and SJW nonsense. It would have been so much better to leave it buried than bring it back only to ruin the entire series this way.
My expectations were high and I was let down harshly. The opening scene tossed history right out the window by having it appear the German forces were deep within the city, not more than a few hundred yards from the beaches when the evacuation was just getting started.
It seems history is not important at all to this film, only moodiness and the director's whim is.
Then it went down hill fast. The film is terribly disjointed with scenes juxtaposed with no rhyme nor reason other than to confuse the viewer.
The plot-- There is no plot to speak of other than the British are evacuating troops from Dunkirk while the Germans try to stop them.
The realities of flying are nonexistent.
Gadzooks, the film totally sucks and I was ticked off because I was sucked in by the glowing reviews to expect a competent film about one of the great events in British military history. What I got was trash and a rather poor grade of trash at that.
