I’m mainly worried about urinary tract issues. None of the cats that my husband and I have had over 30 years has suffered from it; but my childhood cat had it bad. Food was probably not very good back then; but I seem to recall that there are arguments even today as to dry/wet with regard to this.
Do they recommend wet or dry to prevent urinary problems? And yes that is always a worry.
Ive never had a cat with crystals until I got the silver Persians. Perhaps with all the inbreeding thats one of the problems they can get. All of mutt cats have been much more healthy.
I am enjoying the cat thread this week :-) well, we are talking about cat food also so I guess thats OK
It seems male cats tend to urinary problems. Im not even sure diet is to blame.
I gave up on male cats altogether maybe 10 years ago and refuse to live with another one. They were sooooooo lazy with their toileting. The girls are not. The males would make a half hearted attempt to go out or to the box but then clearly say to themselves, why bother, when this Wall is right here? So we have not had any pee sprayed anywhere since we became a cat feminist house. At least not by a cat.
