His early books were good but his later works are repetitive, not very good or choke full of liberal diatribes.

King reminds me of Elton John. His early stuff was good & even holds up well (I loved SALEM'S LOT, THE STAND, THE SHINING) but later declined.

‘Salems lot’ is very good.

It has one chapter that is one page long, and it describes the autumn arriving in the town and the horrors arriving too, and it is pure gold. It is one of the best literary masterpieces I’ve ever read.

I often go back to read just that one chapter.


“It” drove me crazy. I literally stopped reading it and tossed it into the trash 3/4’ths of the way through.. and I only got that far because I was trying to force myself to finish


I think ‘The Stand’ was the last good one.

I whole heartily agreed. Both were notable for their early successes and both lost that magical touch as they aged.

As the old vaudeville adage goes "Leave them wanting more".

Both ignored this age advice.
