The Southern California teacher facing a firestorm after he was recorded by a student bashing the military in a profane classroom rant has been placed on administrative leave and removed from all assignments he'd be given as a city councilman.
Gregory Salcido, the El Rancho High School teacher and elected Pico Rivera city councilman, will not be able to enter the classroom while school officials conduct an investigation into the recording, the Whittier Daily News reported late Monday.
“One thing we are telling people for sure is that the commitment of the board and the superintendent and the staff is to really get to the bottom of this for the community,” School Superintendent Karling Aguilera-Fort told the paper.
Another teacher has taken over his history and government classes for the foreseeable future, he said.
Salcido, 49, told the paper he is not granting interviews at this time.

Mrs. jaz went to El Rancho High her freshman year many years ago.
We talked about this yesterday and she said if this had happened then he’d probably been gone by the next day.

In that environment the poor kid now has a target on his back. I guarantee you that a very large majority of the teachers at that school agree with the POS who was recorded.

Nope. You got it all wrong. The enemy here is the student who recorded it. The only reason they’re ‘investigating’ the teacher is because of all the public blowback and bad PR.
The classroom is supposed to be a private sanctum of indoctrination. Outsiders aren’t supposed to see the processes about which young brains get worked
Yes, many of those pilots flying or maintaining the commercial jets he flies on learned to fly or become aircraft mechanics in the military. He is probably not so scared of their stupidity and lack of talent that he refuses to fly commercial.

I’m lucky, my kids have mostly all had level-headed public teachers who don’t go off about their own opinions, they act like adults. Shockingly I live in the midwest.

I’ve posted this before but he reminds me of the CFO of a company who harangued a Chic Fil A employee about the owner supporting traditional marriage. The CFO recoded his diatribe against the young lady and posted it on the internet. The CFO lost his $200,000/year job, his million dollar stock option and his home. He lived in an RV on food stamps. Last I heard he still couldn’t find a job. Mr Salcido is entering the same sh*t storm.

I watched a piece on the Chik Fil A guy and he seemed to end up better after being humbled by the experience. The young lady he ranted to was very forgiving and gracious. We need more of this, instead of everyone digging in their heels for WAR at every upset.
