Publicity Stunt. Vince McMahon isnt going up against the NFL. The NFL is a fed.gov protected entity that pays little in taxes and has almost complete direct access to television

Needs to compete with the NFL on Sundays. No way I’m giving up Saturday college ball.

As others point out, there’s a lot of football out there already.
If he makes the NFL look bad, that’s fine by me.

This is great. I can’t wait.I hate the NFL. I will never watch another game but if he tells these “son’s of bitches’ that they are fired if they disrespect this country and prohibits steroids instead of averting their gaze and enforce it with weekly mandatory testing— IM IN!!

There was an article about five years ago to the effect that seeing flags or other patriotic symbolism tended to make people think favorably of Republicans rather than Democrats. So it is not too amazing to think that Democrats might incline to ignore/disrespect the Stars and Stripes. There are a few black Republicans, but take them as they run, blacks are liberals. Thus, take them as they run, NFL players are Democrats - and Roger Godell is a Democrat, too. So you might as well say that the NFL is the Democrat Football League.
Logically, then, what you are seeing when someone tries to institute a football league with overt nationalistic overtones is, de facto, a Republican football league.

IIRC, it was the XFL that brought the yellow 1st down line and the aerial camera. If they mount cameras on the helmets of the players, that puts fans on the field. How about embracing the ball embedded with electronics to validate the position on the field? Trademark
all that tech, so the NFL can't steal it. I'd also favor ZERO celebrations for routine tackles or scores. You don't get up and spike your pen when you take an order on the phone or deliver a pizza.
I would be so all over this league. NFL castoffs and almost-NFLers, who want to play; they'd lay it all on the field

The league needs to get a long term TV contract to survive.
Another league competing against the NFL for TV money might make things interesting.

If it’s on broadcast I’ll watch it.
Refuse to have cable or satellite, can’t justify paying to watch commercials.
