New York's Guggenheim museum has turned down a request from President Donald Trump to borrow Van Gogh's work for the White House - instead offering him a gold toilet, media reports say.
But the Guggenheim suggested a "solid, 18-karat toilet" could be offered as an alternative.
The White House has made no comment.

Wow. If these scum get any public money, it should be pulled . . . tomorrow.
Poop jokes from the Guggenheim. Classy.
So this is the EUs October surprise? Poop.
Been in the works for months.
Top headline in all the EU rags?
vapid
This woman should be fired. I think the Guggenheim Foundation, which runs the 3 (and possibly 4) museums, is not going to be happy with the possible loss of dollars and donors, and now that their Abu Dhabi venture has hit a snag, theyll be even more unhappy.
You have to realize that NY liberals live in a world all their own. They never even think of the consequences of their actions or words, mostly because they only hear each other and egg each other on to stupider and stupider things. She probably went out to the womens march on Saturday with her pussy hat and tramped around the Upper West Side with all the other liberal women and cowed looking liberal men and screamed obscenities about Trump and felt really cool and powerful.
She needs to be out of a job now.
The American Left, at least a sizable minority of them, are truly awful people through and through.
I guess The Guggenheim Foundation is off the Trump’s donation list
I have seen the original Van Gogh. It is nice when viewed from afar (around 30 feet away) but up close, not so much. It was planned that way by the artist.
As far as the Guggenheim goes, it is playing to a specific audience and making it known the election of Trump did not please the trustees. Par for the course for New York art scene elites.
Frankly, I’m surprised the WH even bothered to ask for a loan from these people. It should have known the museum’s response was going to be rudely adolescent and disrespectful.
The WH should accept the toilet and put it in a visible place with a sign explaining the back story.
It wouldn’t surprise me that Trump already has several gold toilets of his own.
he probably had one installed in the WH living quarters on day 1 to cover the squat hole in the floor that the Obamas used
That's too damned funny. I nearly spilled my wine reading it.
Heres your reply.
The White House graciously accepts the Guggenheims loan of an 18K toilet. Nothing could sum up the trustees view of the American public and shared national purpose than this offering. The toilet will be prominently displayed in the Democrat waiting area to the Oval Office and be a place of honor for the leaders of the Democratic House and Senate during bi-partisan meetings.
I guarantee you the Guggenheim does not have an 18k toilet. Given the fact that an average toilet weighs 80 pounds, the price of gold was $1,320 today and 80 pounds is 1,280 ounces or a $1,694,720 toilet.
Call them on it and make them pay for it. It would be classic trolling.
I was there (out shopping on Broadway when they were converging) and I saw them. It was one of those bleach your eyeballs moments.
so the Guggenheim is being run by 12 year old boys?
I remember Pauline Kael, film critic for Newsweek, said she was stunned when Richard Nixon won reelection in 1972. She said “just everybody I know voted for McGovern” which is undoubtedly correct as Miss Kael’s world of acquaintances was probably limited to a ten block area in the wealthy part of Manhattan and Beverly Hills where everyone DOES think alike.
Exactly. Then we get back to the famous Steinberg New Yorker cover where the world stopped at the Hudson. But even within Manhattan, these people dont know anybody who isnt exactly like them.
