As a Clovis police officer, John McGrory is ready to take down a bad guy at a moments notice. But even a no-nonsense cop like McGrory cant pass up a moment of cuteness.
Thats what happened in a video posted by the Clovis Police Department on Sunday, which was national Squirrel Appreciation Day (yes, thats really a thing).
The video shows McGrory standing next to a tree when a squirrel scampers over to him and gently takes a nut from his hand. McGrory smiles and laughs as the furry rodent scoots back to the tree. The video has 17,000 views on the police departments Facebook page.
Laura Lowdermilk of Clovis posted a one-word response: Awwww.
Veronica Rain recognized that the video was shot in her neighborhood. Yes, that is exactly how (the) squirrels on my street are. That is my block, an they really will let you come up to them like that, lol lol.

That person is not sane. If he gets any nuttier, he’ll be fit to work in Big Media. Maybe the Washington Post or CNN will pick him up.
That’s a Beaver.
Squirrel appreciation day?
I hate those little monsters!
Rats with big tails, the whole lot of ‘em!
Its best friend is a talking moose.
Prep is key! Soaked in buttermilk overnight helps with the gamey-ness. Interested to know if your squiddles went from the tree straight to the cast iron.
Yep...They are “dark meat” and have what some refer to as a “wild” taste...
Mom used to make squirrel dumplings....It was excellent...
Dark meat-eater can confirm.
Cooked well...delicious.
When I used to visit my daughter at Georgetown U, in my spare time, that was my favorite activity...
My sister called me up today and said a squirrel ate her Samsung S4. She lets them in her home and one found the phone.
Chewed the bottom to pieces, broke off the home button and cracked the screen. Still works but I bought her a LG G3 for $69 at Ebay soon after the call. Came out in 2013 but has specs nearly the same as a Samsung S8 ($800). Get the app CPU-Z to compare.
I put out a box trap like the one in your photo to catch a rat and a damn possum stole the trap.
Caught the rat using a regular snap-trap left the trap outside with the peanut butter hoping the rain would wash it off. Damn possum stole that one too.
