The Doberman was taken in after he was found wandering around Birmingham New Street station on his own.
Believing he was a stray, the volunteers took him on a trip to the vets only to discover he had been microchipped, tracing him back to Huddersfield - a three-hour journey.
But the chip had no contact number for the canines owners, so the now-homeless pooch has been taken in by Hilbrae Kennels in Telford, Shropshire.
Volunteers at the kennels believe the clever dog must have somehow managed to swap trains at Manchester Piccadilly, which link Birmingham New Street with Huddersfield.

My vet registers the chips under his clinic name because he knows a lot of people won’t bother.
I had to actually call him for the number to submit it to other registries.
My vet rocks.

Update:
They’re beating the internet bushes to find his people.
Lord, I pray he gets home again!
A guy I know talks about how he had a dog that he had that would ride with him on the city bus to college, and then ride back home alone.
The guy moved to the other part of the city (Boston?), and started driving to school. One day he got a call from his old roommate at the other place to come get his dog. They figure that dog must have gotten lost, but knew how to take the bus to the old place!
