I dont have information that he was actually wanted for anything at this time, all I have at this point is that he was a suspicious person on a bike, Johnson said.
After the two-person police unit attempted to stop them, the person allegedly fled on foot.
The foot chase led officers into an alley between Adriatic and Baltic avenues.
Once one of the officers caught up with the person, that officer fired and shot the person, Johnson said.
The person was struck once in the lower torso and transported to the hospital in stable condition.
It was unknown if the person was armed, according to Johnson, and he was not sure if the person was previously wanted by or known to police.
No officers were injured in the incident.

“The foot chase led officers into an alley between Adriatic and Baltic avenues.”
That’s excellent! I have a Hotel on Baltic Avenue; that’ll be $1,200.00 rent, Please! ;)
Once our officer caught up to the suspect in the alley during the foot pursuit, the suspect was non-compliant with our officers commands and fought the officer, Johnson said. The suspect punched our officer in the face and tried to disarm him, which led to the officer involved shooting.
LBPD are extreme trigger happy. They are known to shoot basically at anyone for zero provocation. They must be trained to absolutely hate & fear the locals. Their leadership must be sociopaths to have created such a organizational culture.
I grew up in Long Beach in the late 60s early 70s, and back then the local police were Andy Griffin types; tough but in all my (teenage) dealings with them I always felt they were fair. One always felt the police were part of the community.
These days the LBPD acts like a alien occupation army - Barney Fife style.
tragic because it makes their job all that much harder when the locals distrust the PO.
Never bring a Fist to a Gun Fight! ;)
There’s the truth. The officer didn’t just shoot him for the fun of it.
> And whatever you do, dont look suspicious. <
To which I’d add: Don’t carry a cell phone. They look like guns. And don’t wear pants with pockets. Because reaching into a pocket might get you shot.
And speaking of pants, buy ones that fit perfectly. Because hiking up your pants might get you shot.
Oh, and one more thing. If a group of police officers are shouting commands at you, be sure to obey each command simultaneously. Because if you don’t, the officer you disobey might shoot you.
Excellent
Thank you.
I had to go and spoil the story just when everyone was on a roll.
Long Beach is ‘hood convenient. Don’t think many freepers would want to wander the streets after dusk.
Sounds legit /s
Remember when Southern California was associated with surfing, fast cars and The Beach Boys?
Those days don't exist anymore.
It breaks my heart to have to say it, but these days I must take every police statement with a huge grain of salt. Because in every police shooting we hear some variation of “the officer was in fear for his life”.
There are certainly many cases where that is true. But there are also certainly many cases where that is not true.
I still had fun. ;)
I used to live in Long Beach, and wandered around after dark from time to time. Compton too.
Just got to be smart about it.
Could you imagine the uproar if Pres. Trump was spotted riding a girls bike. He would be called everything under the sun. A pedophile. A thief. An ax murderer. A senile lunatic. And on and on and on. It would not end.

That is true everywhere. But the War On Drugs and the federal para-military money changed all that. The police have become an occupying force because our masters in DC have deemed that they will be if they want the cheese. Add in the affirmative action cops and the ones with sociology degrees who have never won a fist fight in their lives and you have the occupying army who shoots first and asks questions in a way that makes you ask, “Huh? What are you talking about?”
Shhhh You are ruining the cop haters thread... how dare you suggest the perp May have been responsible for what happened
