Actress Jessica Falkhort Still Alive After Life Support Turned Off
The West Australian ^ | Friday, 12 January 2018

Jessica Falkholt continues to cling to life in hospital more than a day after her life support was turned off following a horrific car crash on the NSW south coast.

The Home and Away actor and her younger sister Annabelle were pulled from the fiery wreckage of their car near Ulladulla on Boxing Day but her parents Lars and Vivian died at the scene.

Annabelle, 21, died from her injuries three days after the head-on crash and Jessica has been in a critical condition in St George Hospital.

The hospital on Friday confirmed her life support had been switched off. On Saturday morning, the hospital said she remained in a critical condition.

The driver of the 4WD that slammed into the family’s car, 50-year-old habitual traffic offender Craig Whitall, was reportedly travelling home from a Nowra methadone clinic when he was killed in the crash.

The State Government says there will be a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

Poor thing. Sounds like some kind of doper with a really bad driving record crossed into her lane. Her parents and sister died.

Prayers.

Why the farkas was a person allowed to drive home from a methadone clinic? I would assume making sure they had somebody to drive them home would be a requirement of receiving their dosage.

Poor family.

2 hrs ago update

Jessica Falkholt remains in a critical condition one day after her life support was switched off.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Australian media are describing the driver of the other vehicle as a “serial traffic offender” who was driving back from a methadone clinic when he collided with the Falkholts’ car.

He was also killed in the crash.

If you know that you want a DNR; “Do Not Resuscitate” Order in your personal file, be sure to specifically ask for one, then check on it from time to time. Is it ‘current’?

If you are ambivalent and don’t wish to make that choice, then do not make that choice. No one has to. Leave it up to fate and the will of doctors.

Why does it have to be the will of the doctors? Why don’t we get any say in our own lives?

I say most of us do get a say. That’s what those DNR forms are supposed to represent, at least that is my understanding.
I know all plans can be changed by the will of God, but He often seems to allow us many choices before that final moment comes down.

about methadone.....people think that once the addicts are on methadone everything is honky-dory...not true....they often seek other illegal or legal drugs...

Wow. Over 60 driving offenses and yet was given his license back last year. Sure makes you think that some judges and bureaucrats might be the real criminals here.

I will never have a DNR. If my husband had had one, he would not be alive today. There was one bad day and he started to get better. I actually got a call to go say “good-bye”. I instructed the hospital to never allow that quack doctor near him again. My husband or my son can decide better than anyone else if I should be helped or not. This happened about 15 years or so ago and it still gives me nightmares.
I have a form I do need to fill out with my wishes on some things but it will all be for life support unless my family deems it hopeless.

I’m with you.

When the brain waves go flat, then it is appropriate to pull the life support. Not before then.

The fact that this young woman is still fighting after removal of the life support makes me suspect that the life support was pulled too soon. As long as she keeps fighting, it is entirely appropriate to do whatever it takes to help her heal. Otherwise, if she dies, it is murder by medical neglect.

I don’t know if I’d want to live knowing the parents and sister are gone. That will ruin anybody’s Life.

So the hospital is trying to put her down to save money, but it hasn’t worked yet?
